Question for people with a Competition Hammer installed

What weight mainspring do you use?
I've searched for the answer in several other threads and have not found what I was looking for so I figure I'll just ask myself. I am getting ready to send my P-01 in to get the competition hammer installed and I want to add a new mainspring to decrease the weight of the trigger pull. However, since this is going to be my every day carry gun I want absolute reliability with ALL types of primers. I would rather have the trigger be heavier but fire every time as opposed to lighter and there being a chance of a light strike if I ever needed to use my gun. So, my question is what mainspring do people use in conjunction with the comp. hammer that gives them 100% reliability with all primers? I was thinking of a 16# or 17# for carry but was wondering if I could go 15# if I ordered an extended firing pin? Thanks, any help would be appreciated

I have the Competition hammer installed on my CZ 85 Combat with the 15# mainspring and it fires off every primer I have tried including CCI which seem to be harder than some.  Remington factory ammo runs great as well.

I think the spring change is part of the hammer swap.  Are you sending it to CZ Custom?  They did mine and  trigger work as well.   You'll like it.

I've got the competition hammer and a 15# main spring in my stainless 75B and it has fired everything from factory ammo to range reloads and my reloads.  I've never had a misfire with my stainless 75B.  It had the 15# mainspring long before the comp. hammer was installed, so you shouldn't have a problem with the 15# and you shouldn't need an extended firing pin.

With the comp. hammer and the 15# main spring you should get a SA trigger pull around 3-lbs.

15 lb mainspring with just comp hammer or 13 lb with comp hammer and extended firing pin will ignite CCI primers 100% of the time in my experience.  You could probably get by with the 13 lb and comp hammer if you only shot Federal primers.

I tried a 13# mainspring with the hammer and had nothing but problems igniting primers. was going to drop in a extended firing pin but due to not having a firing pin safety i was worried about AD's or slam fire's. is this a valid worry?

I don't think you have anything to worry about.  Most people (myself included) who install the extended firing pin already have the FPB removed.  I have had no issues.

Does that mean it can't happen?  No.  I just don't think you have anything more to worry about than you already do with the removed FPB.
