Armory Refurb?
« on: October 19, 2010, 09:50:24 AM »
Dear CZ Forumsite board,

Once again i defer to your knowledge due to my lack of Google-Fu.
I'm considering doing a face to face transaction for a Rami, but i've been told that this is a "armory refurb"
i haven't come across this term before.
Upon further inquiry, he didn't really explain what it entailed,
but assures me that this gun is perfectly fine.

searching for armory refurb on google just gets me a bunch of 1911 links, and i wasn't sure if it was applicable.
Are armory refurbs commonplace? or is this just a general term for a gun that's been sent back to CZ?

- this is going to be my carry piece, so if there's any chance that this could increase failure of any kind, I would likely shy away from the deal...

I was an armorer in the USMC what armory refurb means is to tear down the pistol-do a technical inspection of all internal parts note any defects, repair said defects and function test the pistol after repairs,in some case pistols will get refinished as well.

Not being a military issue pistol, the RAMI likely did not go through an actual armory refurbishing. This may be a way of saying it was refinished and or repaired by somebody, but it wasn't done by a military. I might have an independant gunsmith do a once over on it.

The pistol is in 9mm. That gives me a bit more confidence.

so "armory" is specific to military repair service? I'll have to ask him to specify in that case.

It could also be a pseudonym for "this pistol has been highly modified and some of the mods didn't work out as well as planned". So you need to beware. If this is the case, and the work was done by a "gun smith", then I'd ask to see receipts since a lot of people fancy themselves as "gun smiths".

I'm not sure how you'd get a competent gun smith to look at a gun during a FTF purchase. The whole thing sounds fishy.

The guys says it was checked out by Cabelas when he bought it (and cabelas is where he bought it)
I figure i'll look at the gun and check it out at the very least.

lol, i wonder if he's a board member here.
