PO7 to buy or not to buy
« on: February 08, 2011, 11:35:21 PM »
I am interested in buying a CZ po7 duty. Any reasons not to? Anyone regret buying theirs. I will eventually buy some model CZ pistol, should I look at something other that the PO7 Duty? I really like the RAMI P as well.

Thanks

Id say see how it feels in your hand. I was contemplating trading mine in after i received my replacement one (for mag not dropping and other issues), but each time after shooting it it just amazes me how easy and accurate it is to use. It just feels good ya know? :P

You could wait for the new model P-07 or P-08  or the all metal P-02. The P-02 is the CZ-75 Compact version with the Omega trigger system.

It takes diff'rent strokes. This is a gun to be carried for self defense or home defense. If you find it easy to carry and easy to shoot, go for it. It's a personal question that only you can answer.

All the above is great advice. My 2 cents: I owned a P-07 early on, and it had problems. CZ repaired it and sent it back all on their $$. BUT the same problem came back: Basically the hammer would occasionally not fall in SA shooting, or fall with a delay. I traded it off. When the pistol worked safely, I felt I was very accurate with it. I mean, let's face it, is anyone capable of getting ALL the accuracy out of a modern pistol? The pistol could easily outshoot me. I then went through several other non-CZ pistols. And recently came back to the Rami P in 9mm. I posted my first outing with it in the Rami club section. I'm more accurate with the RAMI. 205 rounds of fmj and hp, NO malfunctions of any kind. The RAMI is a keeper. As soon as I get more rounds through it and get my Supertuck holster it will be my EDC.

maybe the new P07 is better but I have not had any problems with my P01.. I have a firearm I can trust my life to..

I would buy.  I love mine, fast accurate, 100% reliable and easy to carry.  I just wish they made night sights in the same profile and configuration as the factory sights.

It really behooves you to try and handle one before buying.  I didn't have that luxury.  I am selling mine since my small hands do not allow me to hit the safety without shifting my grip (and I don't want DA first shots, got this one for SA condition 1 carry).

I do love shooting this gun, but it just isn't meant to be, for ME.  You should check one out and see if it fits you.

I found that FNH makes the FNX9 and the safety fits me perfectly.

I liked the ergonomics of my P-07 well enough, although I thought the gun was too heavy, by a few ounces, compared to a Glock 19. The DA trigger pull didn't impress me - heavy, too much take-up - but the SA was pretty good. Mine was totally reliable, and the sights weren't bad, though not as quick to pick up as those on a Glock.

I much preferred the size of my alloy Rami for daily carry, so I sold the P-07 without regret. If I wanted a polymer hi-cap gun, I'd get a Glock 19, but I'm much happier with my Rami and various CZ 75's.

I agree with the consensus: try one in your hand. Mine has about 7000 rounds through it and has never had a malfunction. I haven't even had to replace the recoil spring yet, though I do have one on standby. I do have the small bulge in the frame and my mags sometimes don't drop free but it hasn't really hindered any hard training. The front sight paint on my pistol is long gone but I prefer irons anyway; YMMV. It is accurate, fast-handling, and points naturally. It is also well-balanced and, with a proper holster, is an excellent and quick-to-deploy CCW.
