These appear to be identical to my Meprolight sights, in which case they are plastic.

Bit rough there. My theory is that the sights are made of plastic in order to discourage their use for attempting to rack the slide, since their retention on the rear slide seems to be based more on glue than a dovetail, as the case is in Glocks and 1911s.

Just curious there, superdown, but do you have any experience in breaking plastic sights? People said the same thing about the glock when it came out. No way I'll pay for plastic crap. Almost 30 years later you are making the same comment about polymer sights on a polymer framed gun. You aren't paying for the plastic or the metal either way, you are paying for the tritium.

Does anyone have these?  I hate the factory sights on the p-07 and have been waiting for night sights.

Also what does it take to install these?

No I don't have experience breaking plastic sights nor do i have an issue with polymer firearms. But a few things i will never like or accept permanently are plastic sights or plastic guide rods . I do realize the tritium is the costly component. I just cant except something made out of a flexible material for a sighting device personally. ps. my glock 20 was a great gun while i had it . the only reason i got rid of it was because it felt like a brick.

Superdown ya gotta remember that plastic/polymer/etc. is a dynamic spectrum of materials. There are some "plastics" that withstand abuse on a par with steel and others that are used by dogs as chew toys. I'd bet that the "plastic" in the sights is closer to the former than the latter.

The factory sights are plastic to I don't see the big deal with the tritium being plastic, the pistol has been out for years now and there are really no other night sight options available.  I absolutely hate the factory sights and have wanted to switch them out for some time now I think I might get a set of these when the #2's are back in stock.

I agree on the need for steel sights, even Glock offers them for their guns due to well know breakage issues with the plastic ones.  What I would like is something like this in steel and with the box rear outline and dot front like on the factory sights.  Three dots can be a little challenging in the dark even if you are well practiced. I still lose my front once in a while in the dark and it takes a second to reorient.  Anyway, will stay away for the mean time until I see something I want.

The key with any plastic is the type.  A good engineered plastic is as strong as mild steel while other plastics are junk.  Since it isn't obvious what the material is, we are all guessing.  I prefer adjustable sites.
