Bought 97B, should I be worried?
« on: February 23, 2006, 08:05:19 PM »
Got a deal on a used 97B at the local fun store.  $500 out the door with all original accessories.  The report in the case says it was fired in '02.  The slide only has rear slashes/grip.  The bushing is black with one notch for the spring retainer.  Of the two 97B's I held in the store, this one's spring feels a lot stronger.  Possibly a Wolf spring?  I dont' know how to tell that for sure.  The only thing that worries me is the feed ramp.  It's obviously been polished but you can see it is kind of lop-sided.

With the barrel pointing away from you and looking down on it you can see that the left side of the feed ramp is slightly higher than the right.  Basically looks like more material was taken off the right side when compared to the left side.  The bottom of the feed ramp comes to a point, not like on my factory 75B where there is a small flat spot at the bottom.

I'll try to post some pictures tonight of what everything looks like.  I'll take it to the range on Saturday and if it doesn't feed 100% I'll take it back and just pay the extra 80 bones for a brand new one.

What would you do?

Well my second one has the same feed ramp you have and it will feed all the H.P. I feed it.  My first one, I had to work with to get it 100%.  My new one is ramped to the left as well so this must be what they do to get them to feed H.P. 100%.  I have done some other work on mine just to make it shooter friendly.
