CCW Holster Allowing One Hand Holstering?
« on: March 08, 2011, 12:27:58 AM »
Hey folks,

I've been carrying with a High Noon "Bare Asset" holster for a little while but I believe it may be time to move up to something different.  I've been looking for a holster that would allow single handed re-holstering, which the Bare Asset does not.  Not being able to re-holster single handed is not the best configuration for CCW but also makes practicing draws a chore since I can't safely holster my weapon without removing the IWB holster.  This means I don't practice enough and that's never a good thing...  I have also been looking in to belt holsters rather than an IWB model since that configuration is not comfortable for me.

I have been very pleased with my High Noon holster so I have no opposition to staying with that brand, I just want something that will stay open and allow me to re-holster.  It's hard to get a feel for how well the various models stay open just looking at pictures online.  I've been toying with the idea of buying the Slide Guard if it meets my needs.

Does anyone have experience with that model, or ones like it?  Are there other companies I should be looking at?

Thanks in advance,

hotrod

I personally am extremely happy with the Crossbreed Supertuck. I know you said you like the High Noon brand but I have to recommend crossbreed for IWB carry. Adjustable cants for changing which position you want to carry. Adjustable depth, I carry mine with the kydex even with the top of my pant line 4 O'clock... The large surface area of the leather back is extremely comfortable, to the point I don't even feel it on my side at work. I don't think I will every buy another brand  ;D BTW, my P07 I bought it for is sitting in a shipping box by the door right now, the holster seems to hold my 75B and 40B pretty darn secure too, reason being is the flexible leather backing conforms to the pistol fairly easy.

I'm actually ordering for the RAMI I haven't even bought yet  ;)
75b 9mm Para
2075 Rami .40
P06 .40
VZ2008 7.62x39

I agree withe the Crossbreed recommendation. I had one for a Sig and it was extremely comfortable and the customer service was top-notch.
I would also check out Dale Fricke Holsters; IMHO the best Kydex rigs I've seen. He has a selection of OWB as well. Worth a look. I have Appendix Carry rig from him for the PO7 and it is fantastic-it will make practicing your drawstroke something you look forward to.

I have a Highnoon Slide guard so i can reholster with one hand. it is very comfortable and very snug on the tension. I also have a Bladetech  UCH holster IWB as long as your shirt does not get in the way you can reholster with one hand. it is kydex so it is little uncomfortable if you sit wrong.

I tried the Highnoon Alterego but it was too wide and uncomfortable for me.

Thanks for confirming that the Slide Guard does allow for single handed reholster.

I've also been looking at the Swift Skin model which isn't molded but does say it has the reinforcement strip to keep the mouth open.  I like the idea of not waiting for a non-stocking item and it's a bit less $$$.

My bare asset isn't molded either an the pistol fits very nicely after the break-in period.

Any major reasons to nix the Swift Skin model and wait for the Slide Guard to be made to order?

The Blade-Tech UCH that czcustom.com sells for the P-07 also allows for one handed reholstering.

Well, i like the slide guard better than the swift skin, missing the slide guard piece that keeps the gun away from the clothes. P-07 will snag some types of shirts overtime. also like the spread of the two loops for more stability. yea, more expensive and yea you can rush it  ( i  am doing it right now for my 1911 i just purchased) .
