Wild dogs on the ranch CZ 52

I recently had to kill a dog with my Ruger .40 cal., The dog was about 35 lbs. I shot the dog 6 times with hollow points before it was all over. All critical shots. About 3 months later I had to shot another wild dog, about 60 lbs. (Very Big Dog). CZ 52, FMJ , same range, one shot, non lethal area. It was over in 3 seconds.
I dont know if this helped contribute to the hunting post, however the amazing power of the 7.62 X 25 is amazing to me. I have upgraded almost every part I can at this point and it is my EDC.

I prefer kittens, with a .22

You never can tell.  I shot a large whitetail buck up close once.  It was a classic broadside shot at about 25 yards.  He jumped strait up, hit the ground running, went about 100 yards and piled up on the far side of a deadfall he jumped.  When I cut him open, there was not a piece of his heart that was as big as my thumb.  That deer was literally dead on his feet, yet he ran flat out for a hundred yards.  The next season, I had the same opportunity at about 35 yards, and the deer fell over like he was pole axed.

I like my 10/22 for dispatching dogs, that's why I can't wait for CZ to make a Kadet kit for my P07.
I like Dogs usually, just don't like them killing my Chickens.
I don't know anything in my area that a 22 can't take care of humanely in one shot. (With the proper shot placement.)

The first dog was the chickens the second was my geese. Much different than city life. One has to be out here to understand the need for such drastic measures. Plus it is kind'a fun.

Wild dogs are no different than any other predator like coyotes etc and I'm guessing most here will understand that whether city or country folk.  Welcome to the forum.

Well, I don't just kill Any ol cat around here! Only the wild ones. One scratched my daughter pretty bad, and that was IT. It had to be dispatched.   I do understand about being in the country. I live in a small town and have some farm land.   No Chickens though;)

Sheik, you are right about never knowing how a wounded animal will react. I shot a big whitetail several years back. I double lunged him with a 7mm Mouser. He dropped immediately. Didn't move, breathe, NOTHING until I walked up to him. I poked him cautiously to make sure he was dead. Still nothing. I sat my rifle down and starting checking him out. A 14 point monster. After about 10 seconds or so, he starting trying to breathe and gurgling blood. He jumped up like nothing was wrong and took off. We tracked him for over TWO miles and lost his trail. Never found him. I learned alot that day and still can't get over that experience.

CoalTrain, I am sorry to hear about your 14 pointer.  That's a heartbreaker.  I don't have one that big, but I did score on a 4x3 mulie that went 19 inches inside.

I just lost two more chickens today and from the looks of on Hen, it looks like the neighbors turned there dogs out again.
I'm going to set my S12 by the back door and cut them in half. (If I'm lucky) They never show up when I'm around!
I wish people would be responsible with there animals.

My neighbors must know when I leave, and let there dogs run loose when I'm gone.

I have started target shooting at my place now, and noticed the absence of pets running around.

Maybe that will  remind the neighbors too keep Fido up. ???

Or put a sign up saying Dog meat for sale! O0
