CZ-97B Failures?
« on: October 29, 2005, 06:27:59 PM »
A participant here who has had a barrel lug break on his 97B mentioned, on The High Road, that he heard of three other failures here on the forum. (Lug failures like his, I think.)

I've read here almost every day for years and only remember HIS failure (with photographs.)

Who else has had a barrel lug on the 97B fail?

(I had the whole bleeped barrel of my EAA Sport Long Slide crack, longitudinally, starting at the lug... but that's a different gun, a different barrel, and a different type of problem.)

The only thing Ive had break on my 97B in the year I have had it,has been the slide stop.Well actually the slide chewed it within the first month I had it.IMHO the slide stop was soft.
CZ-USA replaced the part right away.As a note the new slide stop was made much better, fit much better and is properly heat treated.
Other than that the factory recoil spring took a dump in less than a couple hundred rounds or so.
Otherwise Ive been very pleased...many many rounds through the tube too and no failures since.

The only problem I have had on my 97 is it is picky with HPs like most .45s and a small finish blemish. I am extremely confident in my 97B.

Seems to me that I recall when Peter's thread was going that one other person chimed in to say that they had a similar problem occur.

As for mine, after the initial fluff and buff mine has been completely reliable with all ammo I've tried in it. I only have circa 2000 rounds through it however, not the 3000 that Peter reported before his breakage. (I really should shoot it more, but my collection has grown alot since I bought the 97B and many of my pistols only get shot a few times a year now.)
