feeding problems

I just got a 97B, and have put my first 500 rnds through it, all fmj rounds from a few different manufacturers.  the first 100 had no issues but I have had a number of rounds not feed and lock the slide open, and some rounds miss feed halfway into the chamber and stick.  any ideas this doesnot seem consistent with what people ae saying about this gun.

Please detail what kind and brand of amunition you have been using.  Always try several brands of ammo to be sure there is a problem your weapon.  I recommend S&B or CCI Blazer Brass for economical plinking.  Federal American Eagle is also very good!

I recently had an issue with some Out of Spec Winchester White Box that was loaded too long, in my .45 Witness, which uses the same Mec-Gar magazine.

I would call CZ-USA's gunsmith, Mike, and tell him.  Your CZ97B is under warranty and CZ-USA should help you.

Sounds like mag problems, not gun problems.

Loose mag springs can allow the top round to move around and nudge the slide stop as the slide slams forward over the top of the "next" round.  Loose springs can also cause the round to nosedive on the feed ramp -- which might be one of the symptoms you describe.

CZ has had some problems with mag springs, of late -- but generally not with the Mec-Gar mags used in the 97B.

JWC007 offers good advice: call CZ and see what they say, too, as you wait for other suggestions, here.   And also try different ammo.  Sometimes its very simple things.

I had to polish the feed ramp and reduce the angle slightly. It fed great after that.

500 rounds doesn't seem like it would be enough to cause the last isue I encountered, but just in case, here's what happened.  I was beginning to have failures to feed also.  One or two at first, then it got progressively worse.  Ended up removing the extractor and cleanded it and the channel it sits in.  Lubed everything lightly and reassembled.  500 rounds later, no repeat of the failures to feed.

Thanks for all the feedback.

i called mike and he thought that it might be the recoil spring and rod.  so he sent me a new set of wolfs to try and see if it corrects it.  i just got them today and will see.
