ProMag Again - Worst investment I ever made!!!

I know its been discussed already couple of times, but the last topic was in 2003, so I decide to buy them. I never had problems with ProMag magazines, they works fine on my Walther P-38, P-99 and Ruger Mini-30, Sweet deal from "Natchez" - Ive got two mags for my P-01 and two 97B. All four mags having multiple problems.
Bases for 97B thinner than on original MegGar mags and usual feeding problem, I have to hold and push up for normal feeding. I've decide to call ProMag and they sad no big deal - send us mags with explanation - lifetime warranty - and we will fix them.
I decide to send them back to "Natchez", so match for saving money.

Conclusion for new owners:

ProMag - NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I've only recommended Pro-Mag for the CZ compacts.  Mec-Gar for anything else.  

(Pro-mag .40 mags for the CZ-75 Compact, only, and used in both the 9mm and .40.)

Anything else is a crap shoot.  

But, unhappily, a lot of new CZ mags seem to be a crapshoot, too.

Two mags for "P-01" are .40 compact, I load 14 rd. with no problem, but if I shake both loaded mags, I can hear one round loose inside even if 10 rd. loaded, not good for concealed carry.

Does any one at all in the United States make good mags as far as a company that makes mags only for the most part for multiple guns. I know some 1911 companies may make good 1911 mags but what about any thing else?

My OEM mags for my PCR also rattle with 10 rounds in them, but they work fine.  I also have a couple of ProMag 15 rounders for my CZ75 that were not 100% reliable until I put wolff springs in them.

Noise in loaded mags isn't a function of quality.  Some very costly mags (made by firms with good reputations) can do that.

I frequently carry concealed.   I ask the following questions, half jokingly and half seriously...

If you consider the noise of rounds in a mag rattling during concealed carry a problem:  

1) what in hell are you doing to cause that kind of noise while carrying (given that clothes and sounds in the surrounding area should mask some or all of the sound)?

2) Do you think that anyone hearing the noise, if they hear it (which I consider unlikely) will know what it is?

3) Are you concerned that bad guys are going to identify the sound and go away because of it?  (If so, make the mags noisier!)

The real meaningful test of a magazine is whether it functions well, when it should.  Not all Pro-Mags do that, but Pro-Mags for the CZ compacts seem to work at least as well as CZ factory mags.  (Mec-Gar doesn't seem to make a mag for the compacts, yet, or they would be my mags of choice.  Mec-Gar is now the original equipment provider for most of the CZ models.)

I'd use only Mec-Gar in a 97B -- simply because Mec-Gar does it better, and they cost only a buck or two more than the Pro-Mags.

Yeah, ProMags have a very spotty design/quality record.  Some Guns they are designed well for and others are just trash!  I generally prefer to avoid them if something else is available!

As for an althernative make, I've not been able to test the newer Sabatti magazines, now the supplier for Tanfoglio, in a CZ97B as yet, since I own only .45 Witnesses.  However, as they work very well in the .45 Witnesses, I believe they should work in the CZ97B.  When I have an opportunity to test them, I will post as soon as possible.  However, CZ97B's and their owners are quite rare in my area.  Almost as scarce as .45 Witness owners!

Nexus15, sorry to hear about the bad experience with the ProMag mags.  I've only purchased 6 of their compact .40s for use in my P-01, my CZ 40P and my CZ 75 Compact .40 and those have all functioned properly.  

As to rattle, I've never  noticed that as an issue with the one's I have.
