I am finally a CZ owner and a 97 owner at that!

I have wanted a CZ since before I ever even bought a gun.  For some dumb reason I decided to get every other make under the sun first.  Some I am quite happy with, some not so much *cough* HK *cough*.

I always though my first CZ would have been the 75/85 line.  There were 2 times that I would have bought a CZ before but didn't have the cash and when I did they were gone (one a never fired used 85 combat and the second a spankin new 75 SA).  Well, I happened to wrangle up some cash and went to the gun shop just to take a look around.  There it was, a spankin new 97B in polycoat (I don't care too much for guns in shiny finishes anyway).  I felt it was fate so I parted with my money and took home one 97.  I immediately went to the range.  OMG!! :eek  I was punching the center out very easily.  I thought my SIG P226 was scary accurate, this made my SIG look bad (I still love it though ;) )

WHY DIDN'T I GET ONE SOONER!?!

Now I HAVE to get a 75 SA for sure.

BTW did I mention I think the 97 is one of the absolute best looking pistols out there?  Well that and the SIG X-Five.:p

Great to have you with us. The 97B doesn't fit everyone.
Those that do have them really like them.

Low recoil and superb accuracy for sure!

The recoild was actually pretty stiff, but when I looked at the target, I didn't really care.  As long as it puts them where I want them and it definately does that.

I am probably going to get a jack ash stainless rod a slightly stronger wolf spring.  That should help me feel better about running hotter load through it and help tame some of the recoil.

Hmmm that CZ 40 compact on the cover of my shooting times magazine is sure looking better and better.

Congrats on your new pistol. :)   The 97B is a great gun... love mine.

The JackAsh rod and a heavier spring will only improve things.  If you ever decide it will be used in a SD role, test it with HP ammo to make sure it feeds well.  A number of 97Bs don't like to feed anything but ball ammo. The good news is that the feed problem can be fixed (lots of discussion here on the forum).

Nope. it will be a range gun for the most part.  I already have 3 guns that I carry (a glock, a SIG, and a Kel-Tec).  No need beating up another one.

Welcome to the CZerious owners club. I did the same thing and when I finaly got my 97B I was astounded and wondered where it had been all my life. I am going to get the ss guide rod and fiber optic front sight.

Fiber optic sights are definately on my "to do" list for this gun.  I tried it with some ex-carry rounds I had in my glock 21 until I cycled them out for something newer (230 gr. golden sabers).  Oh, forgot to mention they were 185gr. +P hydra shocks.  Fed reliably.  Man those are fun.  It feels like my Gp-100 with magnums in it.  Bass filled boom, big flash and the nice stiff recoil.  My brother's Glock 20 10mm with corbons isn't as fun.

Man I love this gun.

As a note on the sites.  You mentioned you want fiber optics on your 97b.  Acting on a tip from someone here on the forum I mixed flourescent green paint with a bit of white (I used the model paint you can get at Walmart) and applied it with a toothpick and I was pleasantly surprised at the difference it made.  It wasnt glow in the dark by any means but it was surely easier to see.
