Kydex holster
« on: July 30, 2005, 06:33:33 PM »
As I understand it, kydex holsters, sheaths or whatever are made by a process of vacuum molding the material around the object it is to carry, then it is trimmed and finished. Perhaps there is considerably more to it than that, I'm not sure.
However, if that is essentially the process, it would seem to me that a person in the business of producing Kydex products should be able to take a persons 97b and mold a holster for it without too much trouble.
Does this sound correct?
I'm not aware of anyone making a Kydex holster for the 97b, yet it seems as though it would be a fairly marketable product.
Thoughts?

Uncle,

There are already Kydex holsters made for the CZ97. One manufacturer is Fist Holsters. If you scroll to near the bottom of the page you will see a link to their current gun list. The CZ97 is listed as are most other CZ models. I have never owned a Fist holster but it is my understanding that they have a good reputation.

Good shooting,

Mike

Looks like Bladetech also makes them.

www.blade-tech.com/frontend?command=Home

I own several blade tech holsters, they are a very nice quality holster.

That being said I would not use one for a 97B due to its high polish blue job.

My kydex holsters have worn the blue off of my gun quite a degree.

I know Tim Wegner the owner of Bladetech well, I knew him when he started out in the holster business. You actually need a gun mold to make a holster, just using a gun can harm it. True with leather and kydex holster manufacturing, I also know Greg Kramer a smidge too, lol. Although he probally doesnt know me from adam.

If I were to get a holster for a 97B I would go with a lined holster to ensure that the blue is not abraded.

Nicest one I know of off the shelf is the Galco Phoenix, but it is not being made for the CZ line up, too bad.

Another manufacturer is CenDex and they have given a discount to members of this forum.  The CZ97B is on their list and I think Kevin (CZ75ID) uses one of theirs.
