P06 is a little more compact now.
« on: May 21, 2011, 04:41:19 AM »
It seems everyone's magazine question's in the P06 thread is about how to add more rounds to the pistol. Well honestly, I hate the factory mag with the magazine extension adding 3/4" to the overall height of the pistol. At 5' 10" and 160 lbs that extra length can cause printing issues when reaching, bending or stretching. Not to mention I don't like the gap between magazine and base-plate at all, that appearance takes away from the overall tight fit that our CZ's have.

My solution? I use the RAMI .40S&W extended magazine. Remove the plastic grip addition that is intended for the RAMI and you are good to go. My RAMI extended magazine seats 9 rounds instead of the listed 8 and feeds reliably. So I sacrifice 1 round to make my P06 more concealable (YMMV) and honestly, I prefer the P06 over my RAMI for the more ergonomic grip...  Also, it doesn't hurt that I am more accurate with the P06 as far as follow up shots go.

This is what works for me and figured I should share it with everyone since this hasn't been addressed yet.

Time for poorly taken comparison photos!!!

(Don't mind my rusty screws, they give the pistol character!)

 ;D YAAAAYYYY!!!! ;D

Wow!  Excellent timing.  I was getting ready to trade off my P-06 for a HP because I don't carry the P-06 due to this magazine extension.  I might as well carry my 75BD instead of my P-06 because it's grip length is about the same as the P-06 with the goofy magazine extension.  I find myself carrying my P-01 because of this magazine length matter, but, I prefer BIG Bullets.  Is it reliable with the RAMI magazines?

So far so good... I have only put 100 SD rounds through it but it has been 100%. Also, drops free and locks back.

Very clever of you to have thought that out.

And very smart of CZ to reuse their designs and adapt them to more than one pistol.

Thanks for posting this. Please keep us informed as you continue to test it.

I do carry mine but mainly in the winter when I am wearing a coat. The goofy mag extension works for me under a sweatshirt but not so much with a T-shirt.
It seems to be the least ammo selective gun that I have as it has fed everything that I have tried in it. One reason that I keep my P-06 is that it has never had any issues with feeding, firing or ejecting.
It is also very accurate and felt recoil is low, allowing for relatively fast follow-up shots.

I have never grasped the concept of a magazine extension on a compact pistol.  Sure it gives the pinky a purchase, but it defeats the rationale for a short grip.  I use flush fitting magazines on my 75
compacts.

It just slides right off. Your mileage may vary for reliability and what not but my RAMI mag has worked 100% to this date.

Let me know how your experience with it goes.

Hmm that is odd... Try removing the grips and seeing why the mag release won't lock into the magazine. You may have to open the mag release locking hole on the actual magazine body, with a dremel or something... That's the only thing I could think of but mine locks in fine.

Great find Rowe-75!!!  Do you happen to have the CZ model/item number for this magazine so that I can find the exact magazine that you used?  That would be a big help.  Thanks!!

It is just the factory RAMI 2075 40s&w extended magazine. The one that came with my 2075. I didn't have to modify mine but sounds like you may need to open the magazine release notch a little bit, should be an easy task.
