Grip Question
« on: June 01, 2011, 01:57:24 PM »
I was watching some pro shooters and how they hold their gun (high up on grip with thumbs up and forward)....i took my SA and held the gun like this, with one thumb resting on top of the saftey.  Found this to be very comfortable.  Does anyone hold theirs this way?
Thanks

Pretty much everybody that can shoot worth a lick does it that way as that's how it's supposed to be done,  and I'd even go so far as to say if anyone says to do it differently, don't listen, 'cause they're dead wrong.

Just like with a 1911, your strong-hand thumb sits on top of the safety the whole time.

I do, as do many others. It's natural when shooting competitively to flip off the safety while bringing the gun upward from the draw so the thumb is naturally there already while you're aligning the sights and positioning your finger on the trigger.
The bold type giveth, the fine print taketh away.
