Flush fitting mags
« on: October 03, 2003, 08:35:05 PM »
Sent an email to CZ-USA asking about the new flush fitting mags.  Mike replied that yes he had seen the new mags that have a metal base plate that helps it fit flush.  However, he also added that his most recent shipment of parts from the factory included only old-style mags.  Sent an email to Mec-Gar-USA asking whether the new style mags, or just the metal base plates would be available.  No reply at all.  Mec-Gar seems to be in the same country club as other Italian firms that don't believe in customer relations.  Franchi is another company that comes to mind that basically feels that the customer can either like it or lump it.  So, it looks like some more waiting and wondering until CZ-USA actually receives some of the updated parts.

Interesting.  The solution is a cosmetic one, and one that makes the mags no longer interchangeable between the Witness and CZ-97 guns...

I find that disappointing.  But it makes more sense that building a different mag.

Changing the mag release position (or a subtle change to the mag release itself) would probably be the best solution, but apparently one CZ didn't want to undertake.

Re-reading an earlier post on this topic, I see that there is mention that CZ could now be making its own mags.  If that is true, then there is the possibility that the flush mags are actually redesigned and might even feed SWC.  I was just assuming that the newer mags would be Mec-Gar. Not necessarily so, however.  I am going to take out my LCI (loaded chamber indicator) and see if SWC feed any differently in the meantime.
