Hi to All.
Got my She86 back from Mahovsky first week of September.  Cost me $200 total including shipping.  Have seen lots of pictures in this thread and other places, but was still not sure what to expect.  Turns out that it is actually better than I expected.  It looks great, but it does not have a blingy look.  Does not look like something you should make into a safe queen.  The absence of any detectable build up like you see with some other finishes makes this into a great looking, working pistol.  Just my opinion.

Mr. Mac

P.S.  That price included two mags.

I get more complements on my 82 with the Metalife finish and wooden grips than any other pistol I own.

Just got my hands on my CZ 82 today, just have some grips for it now. I am going to finish it either in the Cerakote Satin Aluminum or the Metalife finish by Mahovsky's. What do you guys think?

I'm a big fan of Mahovsky's Metalife, myself.

I've been doing some research about hard chroming, has anyone used anyone besides Mahovsky's like APW Cogan, Elite Custom Guns or Fords? I just want to get the best quality, I don't mind paying a bit more.

After reading Mahovsky's reviews and mulling over the (sometimes considerable) difference(s) in cost, I decided to just go with Mahovsky's. No regrets!   ;)

This gun was refinished in my kitchen with Mark Lee Express Blue #1.  I stripped it with Jasco Premium, polished the slide with 400 grit wet paper, degreased the hell out of it with denatured alcohol, and blued it over a period of a couple of days.

There is still some touch up work to do, but the gun is essentially finished.  I was hoping for a little better result, but I just don't think there is any improving on what I have done.  If I had it to do over again, I would not have polished the slide, as the polished surfaces started to show unevenness once I was 5 treatments in.  I suspect it has to do with the metallurgy of the gun, as I polished it again to remove the bluing and tried to do an even more meticulous job to no avail.

I need to take it partially apart and hit it with steel wool one more time to even things up a bit more.  I also need to repaint the sights and hit a couple of the pins with cold blue.  Then, I will consider this gun finished.  In any case, it looks a million times better than it did.

For more information on the refinishing process, check out this thread:http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=528474.

Not the best pictures.  That said, Duracoated HK black with a Duracoat grey finish on the controls.  Grips sprayed with truck bed liner.  Ready for regular carry use.  I'm very pleased.

The refinish was done by Red Oak Gunsmithing in Onaway MI.

Here is a link with another method of bluing I used it and my guns are on the first page of this thread and in the link I used Oxpho Blue after using ohers and it worked much better for me and using a heat gun to heat everything up prior to bluing helped alot.

Curt's site has a lot of good infor on it so look around while your there.

Same here on the P64 CZAK which I had him do. Excellent work, and looks almost like a satin stainless steel. He's currently working on a Zastava M57 for me, and I plan to follow that up with the second vz.82 which I purchased.

I spoke to Mahovshy today and will probably have him do my 82 but am considering having him do my Radom CZAK P-64 as well.  Any chance you can post of picture of the P-64?

No pics, but a question...

For those of you who have to remove finish before redoing it, how do you get it out of the slide cocking serrations?

Here is my refinished CZ-82, cold blue frame and Appliance Epoxy paint (stainless color). I could not justify the professional refinished service cost for the $199 pistol, so I did the cold blue and paint it myself.
