Resurrection and back on topic... I just acquired a like-new CZ83 from GunBroker, and first trip to the range had the same symptom of the slide catching back sporadically. pushing the release down allowed it to go into battery no problem for shooting to resume. There is no difficulty with hold open on empty mag.
This is a great accurate soft recoil shooter, I am very happy with the stock trigger and how well it performs! My girlfriend likes it too but has her own Bersa Thunder arriving soon.
So upon cleaning it, I find the slide release catch has enough slop or wiggle before the spring engages that it can move up just enough to hold the slide open. It looks like trigger has to be removed to remove the slide release spring, but I haven't gotten that far with it yet. Thought I'd come here and see what others have found and so on. All I found was this thread so rather than duplicate, I'm resurrecting it.
If anyone has had this and fixed it themselves, I could use a few tips if you can share them. Does the trigger need to come out? Where does the hook part go to remove it so the catch can come out? The explodo diagram doesn't give much clue. It is my hope that tweaking the spring wire a bit to bias it such that it is held out of the slide's path is all it will need. I just haven't gotten that deep yet.
Thanks in advance for what you can share!
Steve
Found this referenced from another post: <http://sailorcurt.com/2008/05/cz-82-gunsmithing-part-4.html/> and it's a bit different, it gives me what I need. Just need to find the right punch to remove the roll pin (in place of the machined pin referenced in the link). I should have dug deeper before posting, but maybe this will help others down the road a ways.
Thanks!
