Main Spring?
« on: June 17, 2002, 11:53:21 PM »
Does anyone know how to replace the main spring (procedure)? I'm considering of replacing the main spring because I've experience a round (fiochi) that did'nt fire. I know that fiochi is known to have a hard primer and I'm thinking that if I replace the main spring with longer (stronger) one, that might solve the problem. Currently, I have a light and smooth trigger pull (just like a water gun) and when I saw the parts diagram I guess thats the one. Thank you for any help.

If you have a light trigger you are lucky..  Mine is very heavy.
However if you have experienced a light strike then perhaps you should replace it. Not a complicated task. Only takes a minute or two. I always clean this area after three or four trips to the range.  I don't have my parts list with me here at work but if no one has detailed this for you by the time I get home this afternoon I will break out the parts list and detail it for you.

JEEZ,  I forgot I lent my book to another shooter.  I am to get it back this afternoon and will get the procedure on here tonite....Sorry...

Ok Mr. JBEst here you go...
Take slide off frame.  Turn upside down with barrell pointing to your left. Take a small pointed devise (not sharp) and push in about 1/4 in. on the  main spring  {#18}  cavity that sits inside the the firing pin retainer(#20). At the same time move your pointed devise up and the retainer will start to move out of the track. At this point put the pointed devise down and put your left trigger finger over the right end of the slide to keep the spring from shooting across the room.  Pull the retainer on out and there you have it!!!  Push down on the firing pin detent (it is a little piece of metal about 1 in from the right end between the rails)and the firing pin, main spring, main spring guide and firing pin insert will all ease right out.  Be sure to notice the position of the insert and put it back into the firing pin in the same direction it comes out . when you put the guide back in the pin the insert will stay in place.
