Finally, finally, I took delivery.

Hey guys, well today I was finally able to pick up my CZ100 .40SW  I live in one of the most liberal states in the union...Maryland. I ordered the gun over 3 weeks ago! Just to let you know some of the hoops we have here for handguns. First after it is sent to the local dealer you must attend a State Police safety handgun class. I was exempt because Im former military, (there are other exemptions too), then you must have a spent shell casing to send to the State Police. Some companies such as Ruger and a few others, send one with the pistol. If you didn't have one sent, the dealer must send your pistol out to have it fired by an "expert" state police officer. Now my dealer likes to wait until he has around 8 pistols to bring to the range for the cops. So that took another two weeks for him to get enough pistols in the shop. Then after that hoop has been jumped he then can send in the FBI background check application. In Maryland the wait time is 8 days...its called a cooling off period. So after the final hoop has been jumped you can come in and pay for the FFL transaction, the 20.00 for the spent case test, 5.00 to ship it, and all the other little charges.....then you can pick up your CZ!!!! WOW. We know how well these laws in Maryland work....dont we have the lowest handgun crime rate in the USA? Ha! Sorry to drone on but its frustrating, but its over. I can now shoot my CZ100....I have a question, and I hope its not too stupid. In my case came what looked like a range result paper. Is this paper specific to my handgun? It looks like it was shot by someone in the Czech Republic, with their employee number. It didn't look like a tight group to me. Can someone explain it please? Thanks guys.....nutzo.

Nutzo1,  don't get upset by the CZ factory range test.  As I have stated on this forum in the past, it was rumored to have been said by unnamed sources close to unnamed sources who live close to unnamed sources who live close to the test range that unnamed Chimpanzees have been seen taking target practice at the factory.  Just about everybody who has posted concerning the factory test targets has worried that there is something wrong with their weapon. This is not the case. I would assume that if I shot test targets all day long I would probably not take the time to use my best shooting disciplines.  If they would let the testers put a little wager on each firing I am sure the test targets would improve dramatically.

Indeed Maryland is certainly having their problems with crime and you along with every other law abiding (you are law abiding aren't you ?) citizen shooter there is paying the price for it.  I don't see anything in the world that will change that situation in your lifetime.

However, that being said I would now like to congratulate you for staying the path, endeavoring to persavere, and finally getting the prize (cz100 .40) you so richly deserve.  I can't in my wildest dreams imagine having to go through so much crap to buy a handgun.  Now lets see how you hold up trying to get a concealed handgun permit!!!

Good luck and high scoring on the range.
CZHEAD, over and out.

czhead.....thanks for the reply. Yes I am a law abiding citizen, except for that one time when I robbed a bank....(joke). I will let you all know how I do on the range, I hope it shoots bette than the Ruger I traded for it. czhead, you mentioned trying to get a concealed handgun permit...forget it. I dont know if you were joking but it is impossible in Md. I have read the requirements and I have had many friends try. You have to be a police officer, or be a merchant and can prove you need one, or a famous person who can prove you need one. The average joe smoe, or josie smoe can't have one in our lovely crime free state....will keep you guys updated on my range results.

Yes, I have been following the CCW website and it seems that the guys from Maryland who post there are SOL for a permit...It is a shame.  43 states now have CCW with the others either having no permit requirements(vermont) or no permits whatsoever.
