Another 527, 7.62x39 question. Doctorfine where are you?
« on: May 09, 2012, 11:14:21 AM »
Read some great posts on here about scoping this rifle, I particularly like armored man and doctorfine's set ups.

I think i've settled on a leupold vx r, 2-7 x 33 firedot. Gonna put me in the poor house though.

Started to check out the millett windage adjustable low mount rings, but I see several models and i'm not sure which to get. I see angle loc windage adjustable, low 1 " rings in matte, angle loc windage adjustable, low 30 mm in matte and then the same as above with cz 527 in front of the description. Am I right to assume that I need either the 1" or 30 mm rings specified for cz?

i prefere the warne rings my self, i dont like the millet range at all ,and you need the 527 dovetail specific if you intend mount directly to the action, some guys fit a weaver type rail to use the low rings, but the combined height is the same as the med- high 527 rings. which ever you choose make sure the bolt handle clears the scope . to get a good cheekweld with all the 527 s ive owned ive modified the bolt handle to get the scope lower on the action.

The bolt handle does rise high for any wide rear bell scopes. I use the Picatinny rail system with low mount rings myself, seems to work. Nifty thing is it keeps the scope right where it's supposed to be - right off the barrel.
