theres clear gripish type tape on the grips , its just a small piece you can kind of make it out in this picture where the carbon fiber kevlar looks prickley

I believe that the grips are just textured in that area.  But... you can get clear grip tape at just about any online skateboard shop.  I would ask them if it was course or fine grit before ordering.

The grips come with the grip tape feel built into them. I have the same grips on my SP-01. Great grips!!!!!!!
