Witness Compact magazine in a PCR
« on: January 16, 2003, 11:13:40 AM »
Recently tried an EAA Witness Compact 12 rnd magazine (so advertised) in a CZ75 Compact PCR.  The magazine was well received and locked in place, but was too short to feed.  Some people selling these mags state that they will fit a CZ75 Compact.  Any information on this arrangement?

The magazine has a poly base with Tanfoglio stamped into a recess on the base plate, a black poly follower and the bottom witness hole is stamped 12.

You know....I cant find the mags everyone says work in the compacts...the Witness comes in 2 ways...poly/steel..the steel gun mags are the ones that work....havent seen it.
The Poly gun mags are too bloody thick to go up in the grip housing.
Ive heard if you change the baseplates on the mags you have....the 12 rnd 9mm/10 rnd 40's they work well...still havent seen it.  Ive field stripped the mags, switched base plates...danced under the moon still no luck....
Unless I keep running into the wrong Compact 40 witness mags....Ive found both sizes/styles and played with them...
nothing Ive tried this way worked.
Shoot well

Looking back over some old threads, (I was interested in finding some higher cap mags).

I saw reference to using EAA Witness Compact .40 cal mags from ProMag to hold 14rnds of 9mm.  I have not tried this myself, but I'm thinking it might be worth checking out.

I lucked into a couple of Springfield P9C mags that hold 13.  But I had to modify the catch hole slightly.
