Nite sites

I saw a CZ compact at a local store, with nite sites.  Do you know what kind?  It doesn't look like tritium.  And what do the sites look like when the tritium burns out and doesn't glow anymore?
Thanks in advance..

Hmmmm Ill take a shot at this one...I dont know Ill answer correctly but suspect I can.

Tritium is THE only "self illuminating" night sight material.  If they are true nights, they have to be tritium.

CZ's stock/OEM sights have glow in the dark paint on the sight dots.  If you took the gun into a dark room after being exposed to light..they will glow..for a minute.  I suspect thats what you encountered.

As far as nights dieing...they just grow dimmer and dimmer until they stop glowing....look like they do in the light..and cant see them in the dark anymore.

Ive had nights as old as 8-10 years...still glowed enough to use them quite easily.  Nights/other radioactive material is rated by "1/2 life"  The life is around 25 years before they are gonna die completely...thus the usuable life in which they should remain bright enough to be useful would be its 1/2 life.

PT Nights,  Trijicon and Meprolight make nights for the CZ line.

Shoot well

THe luminous "nites" are old technology.

PT-Nites are they way to go for the PCR and Compacts.
When i turn 40 i'll get PTs on my other '75. I'll need them
as my eyesight is not getting any better:)
