Springs - Double? Single? Twisted?

Really enjoying my new CZ Compact, older model with wood grips.

Several folks have encouraged me to look at the springs as a way to understand models/characteristics.  Also, I have had one ejection failure before cleaning and oiling the slide (which was really dirty) so I want to look at all possibilities.

Mine has a spring for the slide return which is a single spring, but with a second spring wound around the spring.  It is NOT a seperate second spring smaller in diameter and inside the main spring.

Is this what is considered the "double spring", which some have suggested I might want to replace--or is it still considered a single spring?

I believe what you have is a braided spring,  this is what they told me these where called at Wolff.  I had one in a 75B SA S*W that i replaced with a new Wolff spring,  it has worked wonderfully.  Call Mike at CZusa and he can tell you the weight of the stock spring,  then you can go to  www.gunsprings.com and order new recoil spring.

You have the twisted spring...my 99 had one.  The stock springs are 17#..I got a wolff and got the 20#...my reasoning was I shot mainly hot loads thru mine and wanted to be nice on my gun.  It made the slide much harder to cycle by hand..
If this isnt a CCW and shooting mainly hot ammo thru it..the 18# would be highly recommended.
