Yeah, I can just see it now
Some sort of Hybrid between the Kadet Mag and a GSG-5 Mag
A Banana "Clip", sticking out of the bottom of the Kadet's Receiver
I think I'll stick with a few extra Kadet Magazines

I'm OK with the 10 round mags. After all, the 9mm is the home defence and I'm only shooting 22s at the range. Besides, it's a good excuse to put that UPLULA conversion I got from Den to good use!!  ;D

I agree, I just load up 5 mags with Den's UPLULA conversion and fire off 50 rounds.
The re-loader makes the whole exercise easy and 50 is a good number to remind me
how many rounds I go through.

I've seen two at local matches that had higher capacities than 10.  One was a VolksQ,' and I think the other one was a 45ACP with a conversion, but I'm not sure on that one.  I think the guy with the VQ told me 16 rds.  That was a big pistol with a comp and red dot..

As I said;
A Hybrid between the Kadet and a GSG-5 Mag
Now if someone wants to send me both Mags, I bet I can make it work
I ain't footin' the bill for this Mod ! ! !

It would seem to me that if one could make some modifications to the magazine lock plate and the red follower (both plastic), you should be able to get 11-12 rounds in the magazine.  I do not see how one could not get more without major modification, it looks as if CZ did their level best to ensure one could NOT easily expand round capacity.

Basically my idea is:

1 - shave a bit of material off the bottom of the red follower... not too much
2 - reshape the magazine lock plate such that it is thinner, thus allowing it to sit further down in the magazine... One cannot just cut off part of the follower as this will:
 a) take away the lock button (although its not really needed, friction locks the base of the mag on pretty good as is) and more importantly
 b) the magazine spring will bind, as it relies on that little tab sticking up from the lock plate to keep it 'stable'
Therefore one would have to grind down the lock plate from the top and effectively extend the tab.

If I had to guess, I'd say that I could end up getting 12+0 out of the mag (ie, 12 will fit but not likely enough room to allow the magazine to insert with the bolt closed, as that presses the rounds down ever so slightly (about 1/2 a round worth).

I'd love to try this if I could get ahold of some spare followers and lock plates... Not gonna screw up the originals!  Anyone know where/how I can order some?

btw its not too hard to make an 18rd magazine from two 10rd mags and some good tape :)

Unless you can come-up with a Double Stack version, I can't see the advantage or justify the cost

I wonder if there could be any type of modification to the tube (remove the indentations that limit follower travel), spring, follower, lock plate and base plate to allow higher capacity.

Maybe try to transplant the inner tube (or make a new one) to a SP-01 Magazine.

***Edit***

There may be enough room, front to back, to add a curve to the tube as well...

Wish I have the materials and tools to fab a Double Stack inner Tube and Follower
I still feel this would be the best direction
A modified .32 or .380 Mag and Follower might be a starting point

Den,

If you have some steel, a hammer and a work bench, that's all you need for prototyping.
:)

I have a few irons in the fire right now, but I'm going to write down some ideas on how to get more rounds in a tube and get back to it later on.

If Advantage Arms can make a 25 round single stack magazine for their Glock conversions, then a high capacity single stack Kadet magazine is also possible.  All it takes is time and money to develop one.

Two words.

Extruded aluminum

The process would be similar to the link above but easier to mass produce.
