Instructions on how to post pictures?
« on: December 23, 2012, 08:35:14 PM »
Apparently I'm an idiot.  Can't seem to post pix from my local c drive.  Any general instructions on how to do it would be appreciated - assum pictures exist on "C:\pictures\guns]\CZ"

Not sure how to structure the tag.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers!

You cannot post Pics directly to a Forum.  You need an image host site such as Photobucket, Hunt101.com, or any of the others.

Get a free account at a host site, upload your pic to the host site, and use the forum link code they give you to post your pic here.

Also refer to our FAQ, which apparently, few read. http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=14704.0

I use the free service from picturetrail.com.  It automatically inserts the tags for forum posting so all you do is copy and paste the reference into your forum post in the appropriate place.

But, the simple way is to click on the button above your editing window in which you write your post that looks like this: . It automagically inserts the html tags which are delineated by square brackets.  You insert the URL of the picture in between the tags, and, voila!, you have picture posting.

I've used photobucket for quite a few years.  I like it.  Go to www.photobucket.com and create an account.  When you want to upload photos, just click the "upload" button and select the pictures you want to upload from your camera or computer.

When you want to post a certain picture on a forum, you go to your account on photobucket's website and click on the link below your picture that says "IMG".  It will copy the link to your picture.  Then you go to where you want to post the picture and paste the link.  Hit "Post" and your picture will appear in the post just as you put it.

And if you do upload to a hosting site dont delete the picture after you post it in a forum.....your forum pic will turn into a square box with the dreaded red X in it.   ;)

What sites are current for using to share photos?  I've tried (on my phone) to use google photos, but it doesn't appear to work with the link google creates for me to use....  And I tried the postable link using Amazon photos.  (maybe it's not working cuz I'm trying to post on my phone?)

Google photos works for me, and has for over 10 years. Now that I have an Android phone, photos are automatically uploaded where they can be sorted into albums.

If you use Gmail or any other Google ap with a password, then you already have a Google photos account. Simply go to the icon that looks like a Tic-Tac-Toe matrix and select "Photos". One password gets you to all Google aps.

With Google you get more storage space, and they don't bombard you with requests to make prints or other advertising. And their security is excellent; you won't ever have to pay a ransom to get your photos back. And best of all, placing a photo into an email is EASY !

 ;)

Here's an auto up-loaded photo from my account....

I have purposely suppressed the photo width to "500" within HTML.

hmmmmm I either must be doing something wrong or it's because I was attempting to do it from my phone?  I'll try to remember to try it at home this evening and see if I can get the picture to show up!

thanx!

The Hunt101.com pic hosting site is no longer accepting new pic uploads and will probably go away, so I've opened an imgur account and will be using that Pic Host site from here on out and I recommend it to anyone.
