Mag Extensions
« on: January 10, 2013, 11:35:19 PM »
Saw the long and short base pads for CZ mags. And the spring/follower combos. What do I want to order to add the long base pad to some 16 round Mec Gars?

I haven't tried mine on a 16rd mag, so I can't say how it'll work.  You will need the long mag +10% spring.  The small follower in the kit above gives a rd or so more space.
" The extended pad adds +4  rounds of 9mm
We strongly suggest using full length 10% spring for proper function.

This extension takes the CZ 75  16 round magazine to 140mm total length.
USPSA Limited and Open Legal 9mm
20 rounds total in magazine."

Either pad will fit the tube. The long pad is designed to fit the 140mm USPSA gauge. Use the 10 coil spring and follower kit.

So...

this: http://czcustom.com/cz75-extended_base_pad_long.aspx

So it costs more to get an extra 4 rounds in your magazine than it does to buy another magazine?

Is there some advantage to getting 20 rounds in a magazine instead of buying a 30 round magazine or 2 regular magazines?

Funny, I didn't think of it that way. I just like more capacity. Not as easy as it used to be finding extra mags anyway right now.

The reason for the options provided is to comply with gun and "mag size" restrictions in USPSA and IDPA depending on the class you shoot in.
The pistol with the mag have to fit into a specific size box.

If Mec-Gar made a million mags with these options for size and capacity, the price would be much less.  They don't.  CZC offers these options in a much limited demand market.
So they ain't cheap. ;)

Ok, mine came today. Thanks CZCustom for the quick shipping.

Only thing is...I can only get 18 in. These were 16 rnd mec gars that I started with. Am I missing something. I put the little tab over the spring, in the orientation shown on the website picture. It rattles when the mag is empty. This normal? Should I assemble it without this piece? I'm kinda puzzled right now. Uplula time?

Ok, so looks like the smaller tab will actually end up on the outside rear of the mag, instead of contained inside? That seems like it would work...I'll have to check this out at home at lunch. Thanks.
