RAMI P or RAMI alloy

I've been on the lookout for an alloy RAMI 9mm as I wanted the metal frame and ability to change grips. But a RAMI P 9mm just became available fairly close to me for a good price and I am wondering if I should jump on it. Any experience with the RAMI P for or against would be much appreciated!

Might go ahead and wait and search for the RAMI alloy.  The "p"olymer RAMI P had lots of issues and was discontinued.

I don't know if ALL of them had issues.  But frame bulge was the bigger and CZ-UB discontinued the RAMI P.

While issues were happening with RAMI P owners, CZ-USA would eventually come to replacing the shipped-to-repair RAMI P with an alloy RAMI.

CZ-USA was doing that fairly routinely, and customer service is usually bleep good with CZ-USA.

So there may be some of the story with that RAMI P popping up for a good price.  Could be the thing works just fine.  Frame bulge, IIRC was largely cosmetic not hurting the operation of the firearm, but nevertheless folks didn't like it and sent in for a new from.

I've been away from the forums a bit, and from this issue.  My thoughts are 1) that RAMI P works fine (is it NIB?), 2) That RAMI P develops the frame bulge and you send it in and you get returned a replacement alloy, 3) You look around for that alloy RAMI and avoid the hassle.

I love my alloy RAMI.  It is my EDC.  I shoot it often at the range and it is a little tank.  Great CCW to call your own.
I never owned a RAMI P.  Just my one and only.

Thanks for the encouragement. I was considering the RAMI P for a couple of reasons; good price w/ 3 mags and the ambi safety. I'm ambi and shoot left handed almost as much as I do right handed. But my P-07 is ambi, so I'll use that one left handed. ;-).

I'm looking forward to an all metal CZ and really want to try my hand at making a set of grips. I like to work with wood and it looks like a challenge. I'm a little POed at myself right now, I went looking for my block of 25 yr old Myrtlewood that i knew i would find a good use for someday and realized that it looks like it was lost in the last garage cleansing...  Argh!

When I was in the market for a RAMI I didn't even consider the polymer.  I am very happy with my alloy RAMI.  Honestly, I haven't had it all that long but it is a joy to shoot.  I am looking forward to sending it down to Schmeky at Cajun Gun Works.  He is a magician with CZs and if he can come even close to the job he did on my Compact, as well as my friend's P06, it will be money well spent.  The only problem I have with the RAMI is the difficulty in finding extra magazines.  But everyone is experiencing that with almost all firearms.  I also with Hogue would get on the CZ bandwagon and make some wraparound finger grooves for the RAMI.  Hey, a guy can dream.  Good luck with your search.  I looked for an alloy RAMI for many months.  I think my patience paid off.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm sold on an alloy RAMI, but still up in the air on whether or not I like the scalloped slide or the older style full slide. The weight difference (if there is any) doesn't really matter to me. I almost bought a BD on gunbroker, but wasn't decided on the slide style yet. I think it switched in 2009 or somewhere around there.  Haven't decided on safety or decocker, but am comfortable with carrying either; and can adjust my P-07 to match.  I'm trying to do my research to pick the one for me, with four kids I don't have the budget to pick up all the CZs that I would like (but hope to get a P01 and 75B one day). :-)

The CZ Rami is an awesome gun. I'd stick with the non polymer model but wouldn't care much what year mfg I got. I can't wait til I find a Rami BD in stock near me. They're almost non existent.

CZ 2075 alloy Rami 9.....best all 'round pistol I've had and I've had 26 I think.  Next best?  Springfield XDm Compact 3.8 in 9 or 45.  Mine has the safety, but I never use it cuz I leave it in the half cocked position, i. e., double action for the first shot.

Thank you for all the responses!  I managed to land a NIB Rami BD 9mm last week on GunBroker, just picked it up yesterday from my FFL.  she is one sweet, amazing little gun, so glad I didn't go for the polymer; the feel in my hand is totally different. The polymer was nice, but the alloy nestles in and says let's go for a ride.

It came with two 14rd mags, I found a 10rd on grabagun one day and another 10rd at my LGS. I already did the Pierce grip extensions and they fit nicely. Just needs some good range time and I'm going to play with making a set of grips. In the end I can probably buy them cheaper from Thailand, but I want the personal touch/investment and I've done enough woodworking in the past to think that I might be able to pull it off.

One question for anybody out there:  Has CZ started sending alloy RAMIs with 2 14-rnd mags?

I know forever it was either 2 tens or 1 ten and 1 fourteen for the alloy.

I was gone from this forum, and others, for a while and may have easily missed that.

No, I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be either 10+14 or 10+10 (CZ-USA site has only these), but after a month of searching for a RAMI and reading a number of people fussing about getting 14+14, this is my theory.

Retailer has both 10+14 and 10+10, runs out of 10+10.  Customer calls and asks for 10+10, dude thinks about it for a sec and says, "Sure, I got one of those right here."  Goes and opens up two guns and swaps a 10 for a 14, sells a 10+10, and now there is someone later who ends up with 14+14...

Don't get the polymer model, I have one and I had to send it to CZ to get the bulge problem fixed.
