Kadet on my dual tone Compact!
« on: April 07, 2013, 01:52:37 PM »
Thanks to Notarex, I'm the happy owner of a Kadet kit.   Shoots great but the slide doesn't lock back when the mag is empty. Now if I can find some more .22 before my limited stash runs out.

I cleaned the mags and stretched the mag springs a little.  The slide locks back now when checking it at home (unfired).  I read the sticky note about making the little tool but am confused how to use it.  The sticky said to move the tool towards the hammer which is confusing because it looks like the notch would just slip off the spring?  I've re-read it and now understand the idea is to pivot the tool back to tweak the spring a little.

I read another post about putting in stronger mag springs.

I made a little tool cutting a notch in an allen wrench.  Didn't seem like I was making much of an effect on the slide stop spring but it did.  Slingshotting the slide won't release it but if I drop the mag and reinsert it again a slingshot released it fine.  We'll see next time at the range.

Looks very nice
I love the DouTone look
If you are going to run your Kadet mostly on your Compact Frame, you need to look into getting the Base Pads for the 10 Round Compact Mags
It will allow the Base to fit flush with the Grip

The base pads of the Kadet mags can be replaced with these from CZ-USA.

Here is a picture of the two mags, one with the original base and the other with the 10 round base.

A compact with the original mag.

Same pistol with 10 round base pad on the Kadet mag.

I have looked into the replacement base pad.  The one in the link is incorrect as it's the same one that is already on there.  The correct model is the 10 round base pad for Compact models which unfortunately is out of stock.
