What parts have broken on your Kadet?
« on: June 04, 2013, 01:01:24 AM »
I am trying to figure out what spare parts ( if any )  should one own for their Kadet. The question is simple. Has ANYTHING ever broken, or worn out , on YOUR Kadet?  Did ANYTHING need to be replaced for any reason?

The roll pin that secures the barrel to the slide housing is prone to break in some, but not all, Kadet Kits. This may also apply to some complete pistols. The pin is 3 X 12 mm. If you search " broken roll pin" you will find several threads regarding the problem.

Joe, do you know if the Kadet barrel roll pin is the same diameter as the firing pin stop roll pin on 75B slides? I'm thinking about cutting a CGW FP stop pin short to replace the Kadet roll pin. Thanks!

I believe they are the same diameter, 3mm, but I would try the CGW pin in the Kadet before cutting it.

Joe, thanks. I'll order an extra FPB pin to try out next time I order stuff from CGW.

How, I don't really know, but some have lost Firing Pins and Firing Pin Springs
Some have lost the Firing Pin Stop too
On some, the Recoil Spring Tube has come loose / off the Bolt
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what's coming after HIM !

Hey Den:  The only thing ( on the Kadet ) that is holding the firing pin stop (part #56) in at all is the back of the firing pin. Which is under spring tension pushing it to the rear, locking the plate, firing pin and spring in place. IF the firing pin return spring gets weak, OR if the owner trims it too much, then the violent action of the slide can keep the firing pin forward just a hair too long. The plate falls out and the firing pin and spring fall out of the back of the slide.
I mentioned in a different post that CZ Kadet owners can "deform" one corner of their firing pin retaining plate ( Firing pin stop ) so that there is slight resistance so it wont fall out on its own.

I have about 16k rounds through a Kadet.  Nothing has broken.  I have replaced the recoil spring twice and replaced a lost firing pin spring once.  I keep spare recoil springs, firing pin, firing pin spring, and I may have one of the barrel pins as well, can't remember.  Probably should get a firing pin retaining plate, come to think of it.
