I agree that WD-40 is generally a sorry firearm lube.  As crazy as it sounds, a little dab of a good automotive grease works well on a lot of guns.  It doesn't run like oil will and a tube of it lasts almost forever.

I use WD40 just as a degreaser..wipe it down and then I lube it.
