WD40 for cleaning and lub?

I agree that WD-40 is generally a sorry firearm lube.  As crazy as it sounds, a little dab of a good automotive grease works well on a lot of guns.  It doesn't run like oil will and a tube of it lasts almost forever.

I use WD40 just as a degreaser..wipe it down and then I lube it.

I also hear fantastic feedback about Slideglide though I have yet to use it.

Comes in two weights---summer & winter.
Similar problem with most grease and big temperature changes.
Mobil 1 works in any climate, even at 15,000-20,000 rpm.
