Hello, all. I just bought a new P0-7 Duty in 9mm with the extended barrel, night sights, and 15 round mags. It was made in August, according to the paperwork. It is a B series serial number.
I was under the impression the recoil spring assembly was supposed to be captured, but when I field stripped mine, I found it's not.
Also, I've seen the newer models with the night sights and extended barrels such as mine with a square hammer, and mine isn't.
Should I call and let them know?

Thanks

Have seen both ways..I have guns that came in same shipment..some with p09 hammers, some with the round hammer, some with captured rods, some with out.

Think they are arriving in different configurations.

Maybe I can call and ask for a captured spring. The non captured spring is a PITA. Considering they've been putting captured springs in since 2012, I don't think it should be just whatever they feel like slapping in, August 2013. If they're shipping some new with captured springs, I should have a P0-7 with a captured spring, considering I paid the same price.

I called and asked why I got a non captured recoil spring, and they said some are shipping with them, some aren't. In 2014 a new model of the P0-7 will be released, and all of them will have captured springs. And apparently they said you can't just drop a captured spring into a gun that didn't come with one.

That's kind of surprising. I guess I got lucky, because I bought mine online and at the time I didn't even know that the captured spring was available. When I cleaned it before taking it out to shoot it I was surprised because all the comments and youtube postings I had seen were with a spring and guiderod. To bad they don't interchange. Kind of makes it more versatile. Still, enjoy your gun. If you wear out your spring it should be cheaper to replace it, or easier to swap it for heavier or lighter spring if you want to.

Yeah, it was slightly disappointing, but oh well. The gun is still great.
