First rounds P-09 at 31 yards
« on: October 15, 2013, 08:55:24 PM »
Got my P-09 today.  Picked it up at the FFL, went to the range, got off 50 rounds in the wind, rain, 47F, cloudy, muddy, I loved it!!!

The trigger is smooth in DA, mushy in SA, but I didn't have any trouble with it at all.  Here is the second 10 rounds from the gun.  The first 10 rounds were 4" high and a little left, so I corrected the hold slightly and shot this plate.  Why at 31 yards?  Because the target stands are fixed and I moved all the way back under the covered bay table!  It was a little drier there!

Here's the gun.  Looks a lot like other P-09's seen on this forum.

Now, the fun begins.  I understand now why Hickok45 and all you guys like this gun.

Schmeky, when are are my P-09 trigger parts gonna be ready?

Joe
PS--I'll do some P-09 shooting videos on the next dry range day.

Congrats Joe! Youre going to love it. I know I do. Nice shooting at 31 yds. Drier is still better. Shot my kadet today and it was a blast (Aguila 30gr superhighvelocity 22lr). Supposed to rain all day tomorrow, but after I get wifey her Bday gift, I may run down and put some more rounds thru my p09. Have some paper plates and copy paper that needs holes in em. I do love that trigger.

Muggia--The pistol is so different from an all metal SIG!!

But I am really happy with the results from one box of ammo on a miserable day.  I am pretty sure I will be able to shoot a 3" group with this gun at 31 yards when I get used to the trigger.

Gun was pretty dry when I got it home to check it over.  Greased the rail and oiled the frame parts and checked the trigger pull at 9 lbs double action and 3-3/4 lbs single action.  The trigger spring is kinda strong, so it will take me a little time to figure out the trigger prep.  Lots of creep.

The double action is really, really good.

I have long fingers and large hands, so I put in the thickest grip panel after I got home.

The decocker is hard to actuate with the shooting hand thumb because the lever is so thin and flat and it doesn't have a shelf or ledge.  Haven't even tried the slide lock lever yet.

Joe. I don't use the serrations on the decoker. My thumb slides on top of the lever and its a solid and natural move. Seldom use the slide release, but mine releases fine using the serrations.

Good job! I might try the P-09 at 50 with the Thug on video soon, we'll see.
