First Range Trip with My P-09
« on: October 19, 2013, 12:11:10 PM »
Put 100 rounds of Herter's through it this morning at 7 yards. Everything went with a bang!  ;D

Soft shooter, very low recoil and little to no muzzle flip, but my shots were 85% low and to the left around the 7 o'clock position. A little googling says I'm jerking the trigger right before the shots went off, which is most likely true because when I focused on the front sight, I actually saw it dip a little a few times as I'm pulling the trigger.  :-[ shame~

Any tips on trigger jerking for this newbie?

Get some snap caps or cut a small rubber grommet and place over FP.
Grab a fired 9mm case and put it behind the front sight. Practice pulling the trigger until the case does not fall off.
Good work for home.

Try what Riptide recommended.

I made you a little video that might help.  Take a look at this

Thanks for the awesome tips, guys

And Joe, I think you nailed the problem. I did have my finger too deep in the trigger because I thought that was rather comfortable. Back to use the fat part of the finger and SHOOT SLOW! I think these are my main problems, but the P-09 is just so easy to shoot and I get carried away.

Need to find more ammo before my next trip to the range, in the meantime I will follow Riptide's suggestion to pass the time...  ;D
