Interpol Sec. General gets it
« on: October 22, 2013, 01:24:02 PM »
Interesting article, the Interpol Sec. General (an American) admits that armed civilians may be the best way to protect "soft targets" such as the mall in Kenya, etc. His other option being to create secure perimeters around public places. I was surprised and happy to see this piece on the mainstream media.

It is a nice bit of news, but overseas will likely be dismissed by many as the rantings of an American cowboy.

The final paragraph is great:

"For me it?s a profound question,? he continued.  ?People are quick to say ?gun control, people shouldn?t be armed,? etc., etc.  I think they have to ask themselves:  ?Where would you have wanted to be?  In a city where there was gun control and no citizens armed if you?re in a Westgate mall, or in a place like Denver or Texas???

Sheep will always need a shepherd.

The sheep who fear and hate guns would not be benefitted by carrying them.

They would be shaking too much to point and shoot straight.

It takes a lifetime to become a marksman, and once you reach that level, it takes even more special training to be able to confront an armed assailant successfully.

So I think the article is short sighted.

Plus Africans and Arabs and Europeans by and large already know they are sheep, and their goal is to disarm all the wolves around them.  It is very rare that you meet a European who loves guns as Americans do.  There are a few, but it is rare.

The USA is precisely the arsenal of democracy (some here will cry republic! republic!) because the Native American Indians and the French along the frontier forced the American colonists to keep and bear arms.  We are lucky we live in a culture with a heritage descendant from that.

There is a good reason that the Islamic terrorists focus on soft targets such as airports or Boston marathons.  In Arizona or Texas they would not get very far without being filled with a lot of lead and copper.

Now we just need to worry about another Nixon, Boehner or Cruz taking over our government.  But that battle will be fought and won at the ballot box.  Guns don't solve every problem.
