Grand Power /Century Arm Recall- very important safety issue
« on: November 01, 2013, 11:46:43 AM »
I just received a recall safety notice from Century Arms this morning concerning barrel failure and possible injury.  Re HG2890-N and HG2891-N { P1 or K100} Serial Number - mine 1K -xxxxx please stop using the pistol immediately and return to Century Arms . We ask that you return the firearm so that we can replace the barrel-Century will cover all shipping and repair costs associated with this issue.  A failure to return the firearm to be upgraded could result in a serious malfunction or personal injury and property damage!  I just wanted to pass this important message along to all Cz forum members who may own one. :-XDoes this cover all of them then?
There is absolutely nothing out there "news wise" about this.

One would think if it were "all of them", Century would have it plastered on their news page.

to be honest was thinkin the same thing, couple forums people making same claims.  i also checked century arms website....nothin, but decided to call anyway and told them of these claims they told me certaine pistols with serial numbers are being recalled....so brian is pretty much solid on this.  purchased mine through jgsales, but what century told me is that who ever they sold the pistols to "jgsales" jg supposed to send out the info.  i think century should post this up on their notices board on the site, as a good example of what happened.  now need to check my serial number....
thanks Brian

MY pistol was purchased from J&G's and J&Gs was noted on my recall notice the notice did not indicate that all grand power pistols needed to be returned but they were adamant about mine going back for a barrel replacement - they are handling it for free and safety is nothing to fool around with. Sorry i could not get back on sooner I am having a crazy day here at the shop. Brian / EFR

While I"m all for safety, I think I'd have worded the OP differently.

No sense in getting the world stirred up for what may only affect a few people.

The recall is for one specific serial number range.

P1  -  3K00001 to 3K00601
K100      -  1K00001 to 1K01001

If your P1 or K100 has a serial number outside this range, don't worry, it doesn't apply to you.
If you have a gun in this range, please stop using it until you contact Century Arms.

I've updated the serial number ranges. The original document seems to have inverted the ranges for the P1 and K100.

Thanks for the serial number range.

I suspect it indicates newer imports (and far from "all" Grand Powers imported by Century)

My notice did not indicate a range of serial numbers just mine , it did indicate both Century Arms and J& G sales and my serial number. I was only posting to alert folks to the issue and if you owned one to be on the lookout for a recall notice and that it should be returned for repair. I like their pistols and I was happy to see they were moving quickly to take care of their customers.

Serial number ranges are pretty much required for those who didn't buy the gun directly from a distributor.

There are four separate documents. The one Brian got is meant for directly contacting customer. The dealers and distributor have other documents to inform their customers. I'm sure J&G and Century will be posting them shortly.
