If I had the $ right now I'd be ordering one... I'd prefer to leave the 2008 in the car and the 58 in the house...  always good to have options!

Czech CHF barrels which are chrome lined would be preferred over an American button rifled contract barrel for durability any day.

I could be wrong but don't the CSA rifles use surplus or parts kit barrles that are used? Granted chrome lined is preferred but it isn't necessary to offer durability or accuracy. The FAL rifle isn't chrome lined and it has been used for 40 years. I would love to have a chrome lined barrel but not at twice the price when its not even necessary.

No.  Century uses American-made new barrels in its AK and Vz2008 builds.

I know that. I am referring to CSA/Czechpiont.

anybody who blindly believes czechpoint offers the best quality may be in for a surprise

in my experience they also cut corners with premeditation and their warranty promise is a lie

if you're referring to me...

my long awaited czechpoint built rifle with a coveted rare  flat gray finish came with a rear sight notch cut off center and noticeably to the left
breaking the perceived symmetry of the sights and looking like crap

my communications with Mr Brown at chechpoint have ended in a incredulous dismissal of the problem by Mr Brown and denial of any warranty coverage pertaining to defective sights or anything else for that matter

what you read on czechpoint-usa website about commitment to quality and warranty coverage is a lie
I don't know what else to call it under the circumstances

Per czechpoint's standards of excellence the notch in the rear sight  can be positioned literally anywhere
and it doesn't matter if it is in the middle or not

Unless someone can think of a constructive reason to leave this gripe session open, it's now locked.

I'm considering a one or two week ban for two of you involved.  >:(

I'll be happy to prove it, if someone will send me $450. :) I'll do a head to head with a vz-2008 and my trusty CzechpointUSA vz-58.
The issue is Century Arms International does NOT build any of the rifles they sell - they contract out to the cheapest builders they can get. In the case of the infamous WASR-10s and such, the AKM platform is an easy build, so a true gunsmith is not needed. This led to many complaints of low quality, myself included. Also seen some FAL clones from Century I would walk around rather than pick up. I had a CETME rifle from CAI that failed after one magazine worth of ammo, and Century refused to warranty it, even though it was sold new to me. This type of report has tarnished the name of CAI for a long time, and most serious gun owners normally won't buy anything Century assembles.
However, the vz-58 is rated a "difficult" build, and as such, Century must needs choose someone who knows what they are doing to safely put the vz-2008 rifles together. I have heard very little complaint about the vz-2008 and admit I also started off with "Ain't gonna buy it 'cause it says Century on it!" from personal painful experience. Watching the comments posted on many different forums, I think I have to say I am probably wrong, and would be more than willing to stand them head to head with honest reporting on both.
