I've contemplated going down this path as well.  I just don't want to invest a ton of money in specialty tools I will most likely use only once.

That one will be #2. Little brother 4.25in to this one 5in I finished a couple months ago. Did not use special tools other than the rail cutting jig.

Went to pick up my CZ 85C after signing paperwork on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Guy at the shop said it would be ready Wednesday.

Go in at 2:00 PM today and another guy says I came in a day early (3 day hold) :( Gonna have to find some time to go back tomorrow to get it.

Finally got to pick mine up the other day. FNS40 with 3 mags and night sights for 376 shipped. Went and put a couple hundred rounds through it the other day and it shoots great. I actually think I like shooting 40 more than 9mm. I'm actually able to conceal it pretty well too.



First 10 or so shots at 20 feet. Still working on the whole shooting left thing but it's not too bad.

Recently acquired a Springfield Armory XDS in .45. Yuck! I hated the thing. Sold it 2 days later. Only my second ever venture into the world of striker fired guns. There won't be a 3rd. Another CZ or a S&W 640 Pro Series is on my horizon.

Well, since I got my CZ 1911 a while back (which I continue to love BTW) I have been Jones-ing for another 45 ACP.  Something good for the trail here in the east.  Something very dependable, and something a little different.  A replacement front sight is being installed on it today, so I should be able to post pics and relieve the suspense shortly...  ;)

Also had an XDS in 45. Nothing good to say about it. It went away with no regrets.
Everything I currently own is hammer fired, steel or alloy frame.

I actually traded an M&P45 for my P-01, feel like I ripped the guy off. I wanted so hard to like a striker fired gun, and the S&W was the best of that particular litter IMHO. I've not missed a striker, ever, but I know lots of folks who swear by them. But I've always been a revolver guy, so a hammer is a familiar thing. That said, my next one would most likely be a P-09, or a 686 Pro Plus.
