Excellent topic! CZ people don't walk around with their nose in the air!
Christmas is definitely coming up fast. Last Christmas, I bought enough guns to take my three sons shooting. They're all adults mind you, 30 to 41 yrs. old! I bought a mish-mash of styles and characters. My youngest loves his 1911 in 22 cal. and he's a bleep fine shot. The two older boy-chicks lives are very busy and they've enjoyed free access to my gun case.
So, I decided to buy two milsurps and customize them to the boys character. Yesterday we all got to play with the recent milsurp, a Beretta 92S. I did not expect such a nice gun in a milsurp deal. The 92 is beautiful! I'm sort of pissed they all shipped without any wrapping at all! Just about 500 guns per case, stacked loosely.
I swear if they'd wrapped them in butcher paper even, the lot could have been considered good to excellent! Shot about 150 rounds without a squirt of oil! Actually the piece looked like it had enough oil internally.
Sights are fixed but ineffective. Very low profile and hard for my old eyes to see well! The report seems a bit snappy compared to my CZ75 but by no means harder... just a bit more precise. There was minor holster wear along sharp edges but the scratches were very fine. Even the grip was in better shape than expected.
My oldest son loves everything Japanese and does in fact have a beautiful Japanese-American wife, and 1.5 handsome boys.
He'll get the Beretta painted flat black with a silkscreened Samurai Warrior on faux Ivory grips! I think I would like to try the gun frame, and slide in a Red Laquer with gold plate accents... but that would look good in a case and get you many snickers at the range.
After this one, I'm looking for a STAR, or a Hi-Power clone. I want to buy a milsurp CZ but if everyone has a different gun, it will foster sharing and increase everyone's firearm education.
What would you guys recommend for a family hobby? We currently have my CZ75b, the Beretta 92s, a Kahr 40 none of us like, ATI 1911 in .22 cal. my youngest is not inclined to let go of, a Heritage 6 gun in .22 cal. and a black powder 1858 .44 cal. Remington. I would think a STAR super B 9mm, or a hi-power clone.
Any suggestions?
