Thanks everyone for the replies. I can't wait to get it to the range.

My initial impressions are this. Firstly, I have never really cared for the Flat Dark Earth frames, when I have seen them in a display case, or in pictures online. I certainly don't think I would carry (openly) a FDE pistol, as I am not tacticool  :D. That being said, I certainly wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. When I saw this pistol in real life, I was intrigued by it, and I am starting to really like it. The color is subdued, and light, as opposed to some FDE's that are more like peanut butter colored. I am sure it is growing on me, and it will be a great range pistol.

Secondly, it feels really good in my hand (like most CZ's), and it points well. The small backstrap is in it from the factory, and I suppose I will leave it there until I shoot it. It may be fine just the way it is, even though I am 6'2", my hands are average size. It feels a bit top-heavy, but I am used to full sized all steel pistols (a few CZ's and an EAA Witness 10mm), plus I haven't held it with a loaded magazine. That will change the feel significantly.

Thirdly, I am not sure about the trigger. It seems like there is too much take-up, and alot of stacking in the DA pull. Also, too much take-up in SA, and even a small hitch in the SA take-up. I guess I have to shot it before making any judgements, though. I think Joe L said the same kind of things about the P-09 trigger, but he likes it now (right Joe?). It may break in after shooting a bit. There is, of course, CGW parts to help with the trigger, too.

Well, that's all I have for now. Need to shoot soon!!!

If it won't shoot, let me know and I'll buy it.  I am still waiting on my back-up P-09.

Mine shoots....

Oh, I suppose it'll shoot just fine Joe, but thanks anyway. I guess you'll have to keep waiting.

A few other tidbits. The nightsights are pretty nice, they are Meprolights. And the magazines do not drop free, they EJECT rather smartly, even when empty. No problems there.

Good description of the stock P-09 trigger.  The funny thing is that I have learned to shoot it well as long as I don't shoot anything else.  My hope is that the new CGW parts will narrow the gap between the P-09 trigger and an excellent CZ-75 trigger.  We will see.  But, I could live with a stock P-09 trigger if I had to.

The real thrill for you will come when you actually get to shoot it.  I no longer dislike plastic guns, that's for sure!

My growing dislike of plastic pistols over the past several years is what drew me to CZs in the first place. I will definitely have to check out a P-09 at some point. A Walther PPQ M2 is also on my list of curiosities... people that have them absolutely rave about the trigger.

The PPQ M2 trigger is sweet. It was at the top of my list until I decided to get my Compact L. I'm really a fan of all metal guns and so is the wife. She thinks polymer guns feel like toys. So to keep the peace I guess I'll just buy more CZs. Sp-01 next?

Don't know what to do. Double up on the P09 and 07, or go get the sp01 or the 97? That is one sweet looking P09 sir. Congratulations and enjoy.

Congratulations!

Nice looking as bi-tone. All FDE would be baby diaper shtuff.

Night sites... uh oh, Armoredman must have given you his by mistake...

I am sure CZ Custom or CGW can resolve any trigger woes.

Reading the other post thinking you Lucky SOB with the Christmas party bonus & purchases, PO-9 & then read about your wifes accident... Really put me down & I didn't make a post to congratulate you after reading that. Very glad she wasn't hurt.

Thanks for the pics. Now get to the range.
Sorry, had to remove the list of firearms due to server overload. I hope you now have a more pleasant experience on this forum.

Going to the range tomorrow (Sat 1/17/14) with the new P-09, the new 452 UL, the EAA 10mm that I put a new firing pin and spring into, the CZ52 with some first-time reloads, and the Mosin-Nagant 91/30 for some practice before a 200 yard shoot next weekend. Gonna have some fun! I will let you know how the P-09 does, as well as the 452 UL.
