Narrow Hammer
« on: January 21, 2014, 08:52:39 PM »
Has anybody inspect there  rail where the hammer glides? I was befudled by the uneven wear in my stop plate, so I check everything that is associated with it;

Check my extended firing pin spring from CGW maybe the lack of tension in the stop plate is causing it, it has 0.3mm gap. So I measured all the firing pin spring I have longest is stock ,followed by CZ custom with 2 coil clip then CGW being the shortest. All of them have there own inherit tension, since I'm running 13lb hammer spring i don't want to go back to stock. I thought about putting a spacer but decided against it and just order a new stop plate hence my other post.

So like most DIYer I rounder the stop plate where it hits the hammer and polish the hammer to smoothen the engagement. But I'm still not satisfied until I was dry firing today it dawned on me it was the bleepING NARROW HAMMER! that is causing the uneven wear mostly to the left if you have a shadow or equivalent that has a NARROW HAMMER.

You guys should check your gun, maybe i'm just OCD but it is causing wear so I'm thinking of getting a wider low hammer to avoid this. The current hammer is 0.234 maybe to compensate for my adjustable sight, my notch is measured 0.355.

I love Aha moment! My gun is 75 shadow target short dustcover:)
