See that you mentioned tabbing may require a brand new disconnector on newer VZ2008, is this referring to the "updated" Century disconnector with the side ground off?  Can you provide any details on what problem is occurring with these?  Thanks!

They're less than $20 at CNC warrior and US made.  All the same part dimensions best as I can tell.

VZ's can vary internally ever so slightly, the Century "modified" disconnector isn't as versatile as the original.  After the tabbing process is complete, if there are any issues (and they are REALLY rare) check to see if your disconnector is flat on top, if it is, replace it.  Otherwise don't replace it if you haven't an issue.

I have three carriers tabbed by Morgan, and all interact with Century's modified disconnector with no problems.  Highly recommend the tabbing.

Sent my 4 BCs to Morgan for tabbing.  He's very good at getting back to you and his work has been represented here as being top notch.  I'm confident and excited to get them back and try them out.

Morgan/others

I have a ORF receiver that I am building with a CZ kit.  The receiver looks to be excellent.  Is there any need to have it hardened?  Treated? Case or otherwise?

Thanks,

John

That is a good question.  My experience was that they were plenty hard enough, also they require a fair amount of tooling to get them to fit up right...  In my estimation, its alot like starting with a bad 80% lower.  :)

I'd buy one again, but now I know what I am getting myself into...

Forced,

I have drilled 1/4 inch holes in the receiver to allow for new rivets to be used.  I used a new Titanium Nitride bit, the bright yellow kind, and cutting oil.  I have two receivers and I got two holes, of the 4,  drilled and they chirped and squeaked but the drill press pushed them through making the appropriate spiral shaving.  On the third hole the bit stopped cutting.  my first reaction was that I had found a "hard spot" in the second receiver.  Got a "new" hi-speed bit chucked and it dulled in just a few turns.  These receivers are very "hard" as i got them.  A pleasant surprise.

Thanks for your answer.

John

I never use hard drill bits.  Sheeeeet on them!

Hard drill bits are a billion times more likely to shatter and get stuck in things, WHICH can cause people to abandon a project, that's how bad they are.  Always use simple/cheap 'high speed steel' or 'ss' for short.  Oh, and lots of oil.  They go dull faster but then who cares?!!!  Sharpen them.  :)

I just received back my 2nd bolt carrier tabbed from Forced March. Both of them were top notch!! Communication, speed and best of all the work done was top notch. I sent the gentlemen $75 each time and suggest others do the same if you can afford it. I can't see how he makes any money doing them for $50. He is providing the tab and paying the return shipping. Forced March - Thank you!! I shot my VZ over the weekend and it ran flawlessly!  Do you think I should keep paint on the bolt carrier to prevent rust?

For me, painting the inside of a gun is strictly for peace of mind. :)  It sure as sheet wont hurt.  I just like a good gun oil.

If the paint is removed from rubbing, then touching it up is pointless...  If it's not, either paint or cold blue would work...  Both will reduce the amount/rate of rust in the event your weapon is stored w/o oil, corrosive ammo w/o cleaning, or other similar less than ideal environments...
