p07 vs p09 accuracy
« on: February 01, 2014, 12:31:05 AM »
Just to start I'm new to the forum and love all the great reading. In the market for a new P series and am curious as to experience and thoughts on which is more accurate p07 or p09 9mm. Also would consider thoughts on either of them in .40. Sorry if it's been covers already

Welcome to the Forum from Pa!
Ii have only shot the P07 and it was very accurate. I have a P09 on the way and expect it to be more accurate than the P07 just because of the barrel length. Can't help on the .40 since I shoot 9mm

The inherent accuracy will mostly depend on barrel quality and fit.   The shorter barrel could be more accurate but that doesn't mean you will shoot it more accurate.  The longer sight radius of the p-09 is a big plus and most people would probably shoot it more accurately.

I have both, and I second what Riptide and Highaltitude said. The P09 also seems to have a slightly mushier trigger (for lack of a better term). The trigger shape is also more comfortable for DA. The new P07 comes with the P09 trigger by what Ive seen. I carry the 07 and use the 09 for range and long shots. If I was going to duty open carry, I would probably opt for the 09.

I appreciate the help. I have an sp01 9mm and am leaning toward a 40 for my next cz purchase. Have found a used 2012 model at local gun show today for $400 out the door my give it a try, after all it is a cz. :)

Now that I've found the po7 in .40, another question is the new version worth holding off for or should I spring for the 2012 model.

That's up to you. CZs seem to make it to our shores in waves, and I assume they may have a surplus of the older models. Might be awhile before the newer model is widely available. I don't mind the older model. Matter of fact, I love it.

Well just arrived home with the po7 in .40 and really love the feel. I just need to come up with the time and weather to shoot it. $400 out the door seemed pretty good too, couldn't pass it up.

Here is a picture of my 1st 10 shots with my new P-09 after putting in Schmeky's Ext FP & spring, 13 lb main spring and EZ-D sights.
The target is the 2" x 4" trademark in the upper left corner of a sihouette target at 50 ' (max @ indoor range).

Let my buddy (USPSA/IDPA Master) shoot it and his comment was "stupid accurate!"

I am however, still getting an occasional light primer strike, which I won't be able to put up with in competition.

Very impressive target, hope the .40 07 can even come close to that. I'm confident the gun will be if I can do my part. Already searching CGW's site for upgrades but the omega system feels pretty nice out of the box. I'm just dying to get to the range.

Always keep an eye open for extra magz. Grabagun has 40sw P09 magz. Extra capacity that fits the P07 40.

Muggia59 the mags your speaking of got me thinking. Just the other day I was looking on the classified adds on here and seen where a feller was selling p-07 slides in 40. You may know who he is but him or another person mentioned using the mags ya have 9 mags that is so I grabbed my 9mm p-09 mag and unbelievably it loaded to the max with 40s seem to fit great can't remember how many it was at least 12 or more I know. Just not sure how they would function. Wilson is a good friend and we're gonna give this a try this may be old news to all of y'all but please comment on this if this is true its awesome you would have great options here converting and grabbing 9 mags and using them for both

No idea. Think if they load the only problem would be is the slide going to lock back when empty. Of course also visual round count, but that's not that big a deal if you keep track.
