712 ALS and light loads? new gun report

so i just picked up a 712 ALS with 26" barrel with the intention of doing 3 gun in the future.

However my company has an upcoming Sporting Clay shoot.  Ammo for te shoot is provided at the range and in te past they have used
Federal gun club loads that are 7/8 oz.   


I have not broken in my 712 yet, What are the odds it will run on these loads without breakin?

I hear people "opening up the gas ports" on these.  Is there a Tutorial any has done?

gonna reply to my own post here.


took the gun to the range and it had no problems with  2-3/4 dram 7/8oz, 2-3/4 dram 1 oz, or 3-1/4 dram 1-1/8 oz loads.
it was flawless.


Upon cleaning i did notice some plastic shavings  in the fore-end and stuck in the rings on the piston.
looks like the piston is rubbing the bottom inside the for-end.

anyone seen this before?
