Used C-100 for $300. Good deal?

A guy in my city is selling a slightly used Tristar C-100 for $300.  Good deal?

Also, if I were to purchase it, . . . will VZ grips fit on this pistol, or will it require modification?

What about the sight dovetails?  Are they different than CZ?

I'd say it's a decent deal if it appears to be well cared for. On occasion folks have found them new for not much more but I haven't heard as many reports of that in the past 45-60 days.

CGW sells the EZ-D sight set, which will fit the C-100. I have that set on mine, the rear sight is a bit big for carry and has some sharp corners, but you can soften those edges. Having said that, the sight picture from the CGW is excellent. Front sight is fiber optic btw.

I made several alternate rear sights (snag free) for mine on a wire EDM and prefer them for carry.

As far as the C-100 is concerned, mine has been very good in terms of build quality and reliability.

I would rather have night sights on a gun like this, but yes I have seen the FO type at CGW. 

I'm guessing this gun will pretty much feel like a CZ P-01 [my brother has one].  What I don't like is how far forward the trigger is.  And that's probably going to be an issue with "the price of the gun only being $300".  By the time I put new sights on it and put CGW trigger components in it, it will be quite pricey.

He still has it for sale, so I have a bit to ponder the decision.  It's a black frame, silver slide model.

I have a modified C-100 - it is now my daughter's...

VZ Grips fit fine and you have other sight options besides the CGW EZ/Drifts.

The stock gun sells for $329 at the local Academy... $300 seems a touch high for a used gun - I'd try to haggle  

I bought ours used for $400 with 6 mags, a couple holsters, olive VZ Tactical Diamond grips, a CZ-USA Tactical rear sight with a tritium front sight. I sent the gun to CGW for the DCP kit and had David replace the tritium front sight with a fiber optic and crowned the barrel too.

Loved everything about the gun except the manual safety (not my cup of tea) and was going to sell it until my daughter shot it and claimed it as hers. She did decide to immediately replace the olive-colored grips with Pink Zebra VZs LOL

do some checking around as if you do not live where there is an Academy the prices are running around mid 3's, buds shows the all black for $365 in 9mm.
They have come up from where they started.
As far as the sights if you want tritiums the best in my opinion is the Trijicon Combat sites from CZ Custom. They are pricey though around half of the cost he is asking for the gun but they are excellent. If you decide to go that route you will want a 6mm front site instead of the 6.5mm they recommend for CZ's since all of the stock C-100's I have seen have shot low from the factory. That is what I have used for mine and it is perfect poa to poi.

If it's bone stock-that's too much.  Great pistol, love mine but I picked up mine new for alittle under 3 bills at Academy...

So far added CGW spring kit and their trigger. Was going to do the hammer/sear trick but it's so awesome now I don't see the need after polishing up things during the trigger install.  AWESOME pistol!!!!

Yes and it does because the trigger is significantly thinner for sure.  Not sure about any differences in geometry of pin hole locations, curvature of trigger, etc...but it definitely FEELS closer.

Regardless-LOVE the trigger!  The difference in feel between the two is like going from using a bent bolt for a trigger to a real one!!!   

Got the pin but haven't installed it yet because the pin's too large to fit in the current hole. I'll clean it up Friday.

Definitely passing on the pistol.  Can get a nicer looking Canik online for around $320.  Not sure I'm interested in another pistol at this time either.

Not a bad price... you might try to press him to $275

I don't think I will quibble over $10, . . . but I WILL be checking it out first.  I know I can get CGW upgrades for it, but I'd rather not spend extra on a cheap gun.  If it is "good enough", I'll keep it as it is.  Maybe night sights and Aluminum grips for winter carry.

Dude, you HAVE TO at least get the CGW spring kit!!!

It's only 17 bucks and it alone makes a HUUUUUGE difference in the trigger pull and smoothness of the pistol...

Trust me, you will be shocked at the before and after difference that occurs just from changing the springs-it is well worth the money.

Well, I suppose I could do that too, . . . . . but then, I'd probably want to do that deal that makes the trigger not so far forward.   

And I'm going to have my gunsmith friend do a fresh Cerekote finish on it.  Not a fan of "black frame with silver slide".  He'll do it at no charge.  In other words, he'll "bro" me a finish.
