I just bought a new PCR. The computerized test target that came with it was dated 26 July 02. So CZ was still producing the "old style" PCR at that time. The frame has no accessory rail and does not extend to the end of the slide. Both sets of serations on the slide are canted forward. It does have a smooth surfaced trigger. I have not fired it yet. The ergonomics are great. I have been dry firing it alot with a snap cap in the chamber. I would like a smoother double action and crisper single action trigger. What can be done to improve these?

I played with a gun just like your the other day...Very Nice.
I like the smooth surfaced trigger SSOOO much better.  Dry firing will help your trigger ....maybe quite a bit.  But it may require a trigger job to get it where you want.  Typically CZ's have outstanding triggers and the PCR is better than most other CZ's.  Shoot it a while and then if you still want it done...do it.  I smoothed my trigger bar slightly and such...it helped a little.  Dry fire, shoot and enjoy it..

Thanks. The trigger has improved some with the dry firing. Hopefully it will get even better with more use. After looking at the exploded view of the inner workings of the PCR trigger group I am hesitant to take it apart without some good instruction. Is there any available or is this something best left to a pro?

Welcome to the board and congratulations on your new purchase.  I think you'll find the PCR to be a terrific buy.  As for smoothing out the trigger, lots of dry firing (and shooting -- which is a lot more fun) will work wonders.  I own/have owned five PCRs.  The triggers on two of them were a little rough at first, as well as having somewhat indistinct SA pulls.  But after several hundred rounds of dry firing (with snap caps, of course), the triggers improved immensely, including SA crispness.

If that doesn't work, the a trip to the smith may be necessary.  But try the inexpensive snap cap route first.
