Non functioning decocker ?

Ok I think mine does not Function. Would someone out there explain to me just what is the correct procedure to follow to check this out.

Answered my own question. The lever stroke was quite long and VERY stiff. After a few tries it began to loosen up and now works great ! Phew, I guess I should give this piece about 500 rounds before I try to change anything.
