Brand new gun with 2013 manufacturing stamp?
« on: August 17, 2014, 10:09:42 PM »
Hi,

I purchased a CZ P01 from an online dealer, new-in-box.  I noticed that the slide had a 2013 stamp when completing DROS paperwork with my FFL dealer to start my 10 day wait period (yes, I'm in CA).  From what I could tell in the brief time I was able to handle it the gun looked new, although was very heavily covered in thick grease at several spots (slide stop lever, decocker, hammer/striker, etc).

Is it common for these pistols to take that long to make it to the US market?  How about the thick application of grease - is this typical of the way they come from the factory?

I would have preferred  a 2014 model but with all of the applied grease I'm hoping there will be no issues with rust.  I guess I'll never know but I'm wondering if the gun was actually used, returned and then sold again as new.  I'll be able to inspect more closely once I have it in hand but needless to say I am really looking forward to taking it to the range.

All that grease is normal for a new gun.  It helps to make sure to protect the pistol when shipping over sea's. The 2013 date is also normal. From what I've read CZ UB delivers only in lots, so it may very well have been sent over along with the 2014's. Make sure and give it a thorough cleaning before shooting it and you should be good to go.

Yep, it's normal. It's not used, just sat on a shelf somewhere while other guns come over on the plane.

This year, I made a purchase in April/May and it was made in 2013.  So August doesn't seem too far off either.
