Which SP-01 would you buy and why?

1.
CZ75 SP-01 SA/DA, .9mm, 120mm barrel, 10 shots
fixed tritium sights, MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail
c/w two magazines & case
Black poly finish

2.
CZ75 SP-01 Tactical SA/DA, .9mm, 120mm barrel, 10 shots
fixed tritium sights, MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail
de-cocker, c/w two magazines & case
Black poly finish

3.
CZ75 SP-01 Shadow SA/DA, .9mm, 120mm barrel, 10 shots
fixed tritium sights, MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail
de-cocker, c/w two magazines & case
Black poly finish

This gun will be a paper puncher only, no IPSC or IDPA in my future due to time or lack there of.

I've owned several CZ's since 1984 and regret selling them or trading them off over the years, I want a quality gun to have for a long time.

Thanks for your input.

I'd certainly get the one without the decocker.  Don't like decockers.  (Seems like a solution in search of a problem.)

That said, if you're just punching paper, the SP-01 offers no real advantages over the standard 75B, 75B SA, or 85 Combat.  The 85 Combat, which doesn't have the firing pin block, with a little work, could have the best trigger of the bunch, with the 75B SA right behind.

(The tritium sights are a plus, but of no real value for punching paper.  Ditto the accessory rail.)

The SP-01 is a competition gun.

Unless you're in a state that limits the rounds to 10, all of these guns can take 16 or greater rounds, with the proper mags.

Given what you are going to do with it, I would go with a standard SA/DA SP-01. If you were going to go in for competition a trigger job by Angus or Mat would be advised, or just get the Shadow.

I have a Tactical, which I love for my purposes. It serves as a carry gun and I like the abillity to return the gun to safe condition with a lowered hammer after firing a few shots. The trigger is a lighter DA pull from the de-cocked, lowered hammer position. I live in a state where high cap mags are allowed, so I run with 19 round mags.

Which ever version you choose the SP-01 is a good choice, a quality pistol and a nice shooter.

I tried the decocker model and it was not what I was after.  The single action trigger had a ton of creep and was heavy.  I wanted a heavy 9mm for range use.
I went with the safety model from Angus that he sells as the Basic.  It was well worth the extra money for my use.

I own an SP-01 Tactical, it was my first ever firearms purchase, which I bought for USPSA and concealed carry. I got a good deal on a P-01 shortly after, and the the SP-01 is now relegated to the USPSA and home defense.

Ignorance on my part had a lot to do with the Tactical purchase, and if I had unlimited funds and current knowledge at the time of first purchase, I would likely buy the P-01 first, then the 85 Combat for USPSA as Walt suggests.

Can't go wrong any way you go, really.

I disagree with Walt, but that's normal.:rollin  I'd go number two, because I do like decockers. Hey, who's kiddin' who, I'd take any one of them!8) :\ 8)

That's not NORMAL, Armoredman -- just FREQUENT.  <grin>

But, as your comments suggest, the decision to use or avoid decockers is a uniquely personal one.

If it's strictly for range fun, then the cheaper of the three, option 1 I think, would suffice. However, the one I would buy (as you have asked) would be the Tactical, specifically because I like de-cockers and don't like manual safeties.

Aside from an assortment of .22's, I am Sig, Glock, Kahr and S&W revolver fan, no manual safeties on any of the models I have, thus the de-cocker makes the most sense for me. Simply, I prefer a pistol that is "always" ready, even if it is a heavier DA pull (a few thousand rounds of DA 357mag makes a 9mm's DA rather simple in comparison).

As this is mostly a range pistol for you, better triggers and thus more money spent on such instead of ammo seems inconsistent.
