My new Shield

Here's my new Shield 9mm in its Theis IWB holster. Shot it this weekend at our Compact & Revolver IDPA match. So far I like this pistol and Theis holster combo. I looked and looked for a PCR but to no avail. It was sad not taking the 75B to the match (they let you shoot full size if you don't have a compact/revolver).

Nothing to complain about -- so far. It was near 100F Saturday and I always felt I had a very positive grip on the pistol. They're aggressive enough but not too much. I did shoot the match with the 8 round mags -- the picture shows the 7 round mag. So that helped to have a place for my pinky finger.

It would be interesting to try one of those rubber grips to see what difference it makes.

I use traction grips on my shield and have found them to be very useful.  Been using them for over six months with no problems.

I applied traction grips as well to my Shield. Very easy to apply and provide a better purchase on the pistol while not distorting the dimensions. Highly recommended. I often thought about shooting the Shield for IDPA BUG, but having a P-01, it would be second choice.

Be careful with that
They have had some issues
Check the dates and have it looked at for any "Recall" issues

Yes they have had issues in the past, and the 40S&W model has had kaboom reports too.

My understanding is that mine was manufactured after the big trigger recall and mine is a 9mm. However because I do roll my own any issues will inevitably be blamed on that.

Maybe I should say nothing since I know zip about IDPA rules, but if they allow them, you will love what the Pearce magazine baseplates do for your grip on the Shield. Best $10 I ever spent. Makes your 7 rounder easier to handle than the factory 8 rounder.

Thanks for the info shaky! I hadn't heard about the Pearce baseplates.

If I use the Pearce baseplates (and the Apex Tactical trigger package which I'm considering) they wouldn't let me shoot it in Stock Service Pistol. I'd have to shoot it in Enhanced Service Pistol Division which would be fine with me.
